Dawson will replay that shot in his head many times. The ball was in the slot for him to just nail it for a boundary and win the trophy.
Dawson's choice of shot aside, the biggest two culprits in that defeat were Gubbins and Crane. I'm not going to criticise the club for not bringing the Brave boys back. I totally get why. But we win that game, and probably by a decent margin, if Vince and Fuller had played.
The two best teams in this year's tournament provided a match that ebbed and flowed. Better luck next time Hampshire, well done Leicestershire on a first trophy since 1985. Oñe or two on here had yet to be born!
No defence of Crane but I’ve noted, you are so so aggressive towards poor performances on here but generally are the opposite on SFC? It’s very, very obvious?
Fine margins I was pleased last year when Kent didn't bring back the likes of Billings and Bell-Drummond back for the final and it paid off for us. Yesterday was so close that if just 1 of the 300 balls had been played differently you would have won.
@The Ides of March , just picking up what you have said on the prediction thread and didn't want to go off topic. Yes we threw it away against Notts in a game that we really should have won. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the opposition for digging in. Another disappointing season for Kent and a straight shoot out between us and Middlesex for relegation now. I think we have Crawley available, which could be key.
Brook makes the WC squad. No Roy. Given Malan's form and Roy's fitness, it seemed inevitable that Malan had taken Roy's position from him. And from there, you would always rather having a reserve batter who can cover multiple positions, rather than someone like Roy who can only really provide cover for the openers.
