I can get him selling all the old outfits and stuff, but I can't get my head around why he would sell the trophies. That's bonkers

I noticed on the BBC F1 web site that Andretti has been approved by the FIA to enter the sport and must now gain the FOM agreement.

    .

It must be so hard to get established in F1 too, and they could easily go the way of Caterham,Spyker,HRT and many others. The existing 10 teams have made clear their opposition to any new entrants.

I think a BIG stumbling block is the money Andretti will have to pay to join .

    $200,000,000.

It’s to do with prize Money being split amongst 11 teams not 10 .

Some teams want ANY new entrant to pay much more to take into account increasing costs , I have read $600,000,000.

I think the entrance fee will always be £1 more than whatever someone is willing to pay. The teams aren't ever diluting their cash cow

It's a shame in a way. More equal payments and the cost cap are a great thing for better racing, but also creates the "Haas" scenario where you can put in zero effort and rake in millions.

F1 should be survival of the fittest where bad teams get replaced, but there's just no mechanism for that anymore

It's quite a funny situation really. FIA say yes to new team, if Liberty say no they will look like bad in the eyes of the public. If they say yes then the teams will be annoyed... Then again doesn't the Concorde agreement state the max number of teams is 12, details new team joining fees and prize structure? So all current teams agreed to this so they really have no rights to complain.

A new team that becomes competitive within a couple of years would be great - ok so maybe gets into the mid field in a couple of years.

    Welcome F17!

I have mixed feelings on this, whilst Andretti have a credible Motorsport pedigree, there’s no reason to believe this won’t be another mid grid team at best and I’m not really sure that adds anything to the sport. Equally it’s two more cars and drivers to cause some interest and it makes little difference to me if each team gets a small amount less of the pie.

imo there's simply not enough cars on the grid so if they need to be forced to add 2 then they should be forced to. end of.

Stories in the press today that suggest that Perez is in the last chance saloon now for next year. Renewing Tsunoda - given Lawson’s performance - was obviously a way to keep 5 race drivers on the books and to have options - it does all rely on Daniel performing over the last races though. If not (and his first two weren’t great), then a buying Albon back from Williams and loaning out Lawson to replace him is the only viable option I see?

Now, many will know I live in Guernsey, an Island with a maximum speed limit of 35 mph, but often 25 or even 15 mph. Wholly appropriate for some of the roads.
It is a Finance centre with many earning big money in the finance sector. As such a convertable bentley or a valuable classic is not out of place.
But it was amusing on Saturday to hear the sound of the exhaust of a 911 accelerating uphill to perform an overtake. The driver roared up with sound reverberating off the houses and walls in an expectant way, attracting looks, as the driver overtook........a bicycle!
Now, I think it was an electric bicycle as it soon caught up with the Porsche despite going uphill.

    An amusing sight to behold!

With granite curbs that destroy the wheels most keep their performance cars off island in the UK and drive them when over there.

If he's admitting to one charge you can bet he still had other sources that hmrc didn't find!
He always reminds me of a dodgy second hand car salesman.

He`ll just get a vertual slap on the wrist anyway.

He is the sort that are worshipped by the press and media and the ordinary man in the street is hounded for every last pence by the tax man.

Neh, he`s definitely not a dodgy geezer.

I was thinking about alternatives, do you think they could prise Alonso out of Aston Martin? If Stroll Jr might be considering his options, how about Perez and Lawson to Aston Martin, with Alonso going the other way?

I'm not sure Alonso would risk going to Red Bull even if they have the best car. He would love to win another WDC and I doubt Red Bull would allow that!

I'm hoping that Williams build a semi decent car next year and Albon stays there as he has been doing quite a good job. I'm not sure there are any better seats going for next year.
