Interesting thought, with which I agree actually. Mine went to Uni (degree achieved) and also didn't go, they all have equally decent careers. I think it's down to the kids themselves really, although it should never be construed the brightest ones went to Uni. Businesses will take you with or without the degrees, it can come down to just your own level of competence without the degree. Some companies also will even pay for further qualifications if required due to the legal aspect of whatever you do, likewise some professions insist on the degrees, as the profession is naturally incurrent on them.

would have taken me an additional 5-7 years to get my qualifications doing part time/having a sponsored degree. Some days I think that would have been a better route, having more cash/more fun and a cheaper house.

there used to be a cachet for going to uni and you would normally earn more but notreally these days unless the degree is in technical fields or from one of the renowned unis e.g. come from an oxbridge college with a first in the classics and you sate golden.
Half the people going to uni should be directed to technical colleges and the modern day equivalent if there is one to study either vocational courses up to HNC / HND .

would push for more engineers, the lack of decent candidates at the moment is making recruitment tough.

Worst music venue I've ever been to.

Not a criticism of your daughter of course, just an observation!

It's ****e as a concert venue. On many levels.

Can't disagree ... but a jobs a job ... she did get to see James which she says was the best night she worked ...

Not sure @Libby will agree ... but sounds like it's an absolute end-to-end cracker at St Mary's this evening ... haven't got Sky but BBC and TalkShite coverage is most complimentary ...

you've looked pretty good but Saints are playing suicide football at the back .

Got a uoung lad on the bench who is explosive and I hope we bring on, Abdul Farawu - he's on loan from Sporting Lisbon (with an option to buy) - Ghanaian winger who loves to take defenders on ... only saw highlights if his cameo against Hull last week ... but exciting prospect ...

brother left school to do an apprenticeship at a car firm who funded his engineering HNC then later worked in aerospace and trains while doing his HND .
Nice one, hope he goes as far as he wants. Will be in demand in net 5-10 years with time behind him. Would advise him, if not already to become a member of IMechE.

he is my older brother so his plan was to have retired years ago but then he found a woman daft enough to live with him so probably needs tokeep working till he is about 75 just to keep her and her grasping children .
