It only happens when there is a fixture clash at the end of the RL season. The RL fixtures come out before the football ones. Autumn is the end of the RL season. In April and May it is FC that would have to move. All complicated by SKY picking dates for games that mean a clash. Arranging to put FC on SKY on Saturday and City on a Friday.
City was allowed to play Xmas day, because the fish market when I started work was open Boxing day. Just a useless stat, but interesting nevertheless.
Every team played on Xmas Day, there used to be a full programme. Actually, City and Grimsby were the only teams with permission not to play Xmas Day if it coincided with the trawlers landing such was the importance of the fish from the two ports. Though I don’t think City ever had to take advantage of it. Don’t know about Grimsby. https://www.90min.com/posts/the-last-time-football-was-played-christmas-day-england
Bum information again I received, I thought there was a full program as I went to a game on Xmas day back in the fifties, but thought I maybe got it wrong. Thanks for putting the record straight.
The good news is that the other team that use the MKM only have the regulation season matches, not the additional ones ...
Really optimistic about this one...the stadium should be rocking...cant wait till November until I can get there for a home game. 3-1 city
And ours would be 7 if McLoughlin hadn't packed it in 5 minutes before the end against Sheffield Wednesday
You are quite within your rights to feel however you want, however, it seems an odd thing to get annoyed about to me when we won 4-2. It's not like that goal cost us anything.
Good notes. But, what actually is this "unique way of playing football'? What are we doing differently to anyone else? (If replying, please also confirm where you sit on the 'normal distribution curve' as per t'othet thread ).
I thought of you when I read that. I don't think it is unique realistically, just one of Acun's hyperboles/exaggerations. And although Acun has said it here, I still don't think Rosenior ever promised we'd have a unique style of play.
How lucky are we to have our chairman, I for 1 love his enthusiasm and drive for our club. He won’t get everything right that is life in general but in the big things I think he has. At some point in the near future I’ll be meeting him, something I’m very much looking forward to doing. Up the tigers, one team, one family……
