Just watched it, Boro missed 3 1 v 1s, that first goal I couldnt believe it went in as I was convinced it was going wide. Not worried by these, right winger looks tricky, I am sure MCC will sort him out. (Mr Cirkin, Clarke)

On my outward journey with the dogs this morning in the lashing rain, I saw 7 toads crossing the cycle path! Never seen anything like that before.
    Its a sign.

PATRICK ROBERTS has returned to full training, and is set to be back in Sunderland’s starting line-up for tomorrow’s game at QPR.

Sunderland head coach Tony Mowbray said: “He’s been training the last few days and he looks fine. You know my thoughts on Patrick – he’s a special footballer.”

While Roberts is expected to return to the starting side, Mowbray is understandably reluctant to make too many changes to the team that thrashed Southampton 5-0 prior to the international break.

He said: “It’s very difficult to change a team that has just won 5-0 against one of the fancied teams and created so many chances.

“And, with total respect to Southampton, we could have scored more – (Luis) Hemir could and should have scored and it would have been great for him to be up and running.

“There’s a luxury there at the moment and we will filter these players into the team bit by bit, but that doesn't mean that in four weeks’ time they are all in the team and there is no (Jack) Clarke and no (Dan) Neil. They (the new players) have to come here and compete, they are not here to replace anybody.”

Nevertheless, while Sunderland’s deadline-day signings might not be starting at Loftus Road, Mowbray is keen to take as many as possible to London with the rest of his first-team squad.

He said: “Mason (Burtsow) will be coming, Naz (Nazariy Rusyn) too - although whether he is involved depends on whether he gets his visa in time. Adil (Aouchiche) will come with the group, but it’s a bit soon for Timmy (Timothee Pembele).

“It’s good to have all these players and I’ve got some dilemmas. I’m going to take 22 or 21 players so some are going to get left out of the matchday squad, but it’s good to have those dilemmas.

“They’re not problems, really. As long as the players understand the logic of why you select a team and you communicate with them, I think they understand.”

Mowbray seems to have mastered the technique of including players without them actually starting games or even being on the bench. It appears he takes time to explain, to players, why he's making those decisions.

Shame for Ba but Mowbray is choosing the team with his head, not his heart ...

... I'm happy to trust him even if he makes choices I wouldn't.

I'm happy to trust him too,but I don't think I'd change the side. I'd show confidence in them after Soton and give them another go. There are always options on the bench to make changes if necessary.

It's always nice to keep a winning side but Mowbray is a bit more hard nosed ...

... and the two games couldn't be more different.

A home game, against a side that holds the ball in their own half and plays patiently isn't like an away game when the home team will try to hassle us in our own half and scrap in midfield.

Mowbrays tactics against Southampton surprised me, perhaps we'll get another surprise tomorrow. Ba did well but so did Dack who might also miss out tomorrow.

We have three games, in a week, and plenty of choices so I expect we'll see more changes.

The headline is very misleading, I will be surprised if Roberts starts, I think he will be on the bench, and start v Blackburn

No reason we can't go there looking for all three points.

To be honest I would be very disappointed if we were not looking for 3 points, what a turn around in such a short period of time

That's the kind of stat that puts a shiver down every Sunderland supporter's spine.

If we weren't Sunderland, we'd be Sod's Law AFC....

Club released some more training photos on socials this morning. Still no sign of Ekwah which is a tad concerning (but also none of Hemir).

Burstow seems to be given the number 11 shirt which is another suggestion (albeit a small one) that we might see him start off as first choice

Also Pembele the number 6 shirt

After my post about seeing the 7 toads on the cycle path this morning indicating that we are going to win 7-0 well the omens continue. I am waiting for a delivery from DHL and I am number 73 on the delivery list. Obviously we are also winning the FA Cup.

I ran round a park this morning, saw 1 black cat and no queens or even a park ranger so I’m having that as a sign too
