Bellingham absolute quality. Would have been incredible signing and real shame that didn’t happen. Think he’ll become the best midfielder in world in a couple years
Rather have AMC and Zobo than just Bellingham if it one versus other though. All three would have been awesome though
Would have just loved watching him play for us no matter what tbh. Be interesting if he stays at Madrid rest of his career as no real reason to leave unless he fancies a go in the prem at some point.
I think if he wins a few titles in Spain and at least a champions league before he’s 25, then he will want to come to the prem. Who could afford him at that time though would be the big question
Thought England played decent today. Was actually rather enjoyable watch, prob helped by Scottish crowd making it feel much more than a friendly. Thought Walker and guehi were solid. Dunk very good. Trippier offered absolute zero and totally pointless at LB as just constantly cuts inside when attacking. Why southgatebl didn’t use it to try an actual left back like Henry or Mitchell. Rice was solid. Phillips looked like he hadn’t played football for a year which is actually true. Was slow on the ball and didn’t know what to do when dunk played those passes into him with 2 players around him like he does at Brighton. Bellingham was brilliant, reminds me of early deli Ali days where has a bite to him as well. Rashford and Foden were much more of a threat out wide as well.
Considering we offered £111m for Caicedo (****ing why?????), it SHOULD have happened. Wouldn't need any DM with those three and Gakpo, Mo, and Diaz in front of them, as no ****er would ever get the ball off us.
Slight knee jerk on the Jude front here imho Yes he has had a good game against Scotland His confidence is sky high atm Let’s see where he is after a few setbacks
Virgil being bashed in Dutch media. Pundits there saying he's not good enough to captain Netherlands anymore, on last legs, etc. Didn't see Netherlands game, was he really deserving of all that abuse?
He has never recovered from that disgusting challenge by Pickford imho The challenge the fans celebrated For me that was disgusting - terrible attitude. I know Pickford apologised afterwards and Tbf he hasn’t don’t it since but he had done that tackle prior Sorry - ranting
nah, balance in all things. I am more than happy with szobolzlai and feel the english media have lost thier heads over bellingham. It was scotland! it was only last week that Bellingham was hooked v Ukraine having had no impact. The second that lad headed for dortmund over other offers you knew what he was after and he's got the position now to demand it on his next contract. The wages he went to real for are piddling tbh. Sure we COULD match both but in reality we were finally told we had no chance by his agent and we put out a couldn't afford him anyway lie. We have to get players who want to come not dreamland stuff. I think we've done ok and will get top 4. hopefully a dublin (have you guys noticed this) europa final and look for tickets.
Only thing I saw was one ex player say it last week. Can’t remember if it was hiddink or guilet? Not sure it’s quite harry maguire level bashing
He was arguably Dortmund best player last year and had gone to madrid and started but scoring goals and winning games there. This isn’t about a 70min performance v Scotland. Guys been brilliant for couple of years
but I'm still happy with szoboszlai for out team and Bellingham rejected us to go to real which is his choice. my point is there's no point mooning over him nor saying the club didn't bid. that's buying the face saving bollocks they come out with. the simple fact is he was always going to rela and went to real so we need to focus on those thst want to come to lfc and szobo is an absolute steal at 60mil. we've got 2 good ones, one hope and one journeyman in so we've done quite alright for ourselves imo. we will do better this year over last year for that work and hopefully with less injury up top we will do even better still.
the Dutch are back biting ****s and always have been. it's one of the main reasons they win nothing on the international stage. Spain used to be the same btw, all the talent and nothing won. until the Dutch stop being dickheads and blaming everyone and anyone and infighting they will always struggle.
As far as I remember, Henderson said that Pickford came up to him after the game and said to apologise to Van dijk for him. He didn't ever issue a personal apology. He has done a similar challenge since as well, can't remember on who. (Will have a little look.) Edit - not a similar challenge but a completely uncalled for challenge again on Rodrigo which dislocated his shoulder leaving him needing oxygen.
I think it's more due to age - he seemed to come back with the same straight-line speed, but less flexibility and an obvious reluctance to stretch himself in the tackle. He was okayish and not too slow at all in 2021/22 - his first season back after injury - but last season, starting off with his pants performance at Fulham, and that non-tackle on Sancho at United as Milner was throwing himself around like a maniac to block the shot, we saw the real drop off in pace and movement. But, as I've said here before, look at how Rio, another 6'4" pace-merchant, lost his pace in his 30s: the big lads tend to. As to the Pickford tackle, I've seen worse in derbies by both sides, but none that I can think of that went completely unpunished. Apart from the disgusting press attitude of cheerleading the opposing fans' celebrations, I still maintain the PGMOL attitude epitomised our mutual enmity, recently exemplified by the Virgil ritual sacrifice: their golden boy Michael Oliver MUST have seen that tackle in real time and had to have judged it as serious foul play, so that begs the question - does he not know serious foul play is an instant sending-off regardless of the state of play (i.e if the ball is in play, etc)? When he was informed by his ****ing useless VAR assistant Coote that Virgil was offside, so it was therefore no penalty, what went through his head? He slipped an interview into S*N 3 months later (which he knew we wouldn't read) that "Er, um, yes - we sort of got the procedure mixed-up there". Yet the PGMOL never banned those ****-ups for the next game as they did to several others who've ballsed-up.
I saw what Milk was referring too but can't recall who said it. It came out yesterday and it wasn't Hiddink or Gullit.
