Good Morning. It's Wednesday 13th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Poveda face possible jail sentence Leeds midfielder Ian Poveda faces a possible six month jail sentence, and an extended driving ban after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. The incident took place in April 2022, whilst the now 23yo was recovering from a broken ankle he sustained during his loan spell at Blackburn Rover, earlier that season. Given the time frame of the motoring offence, it is likely that the club are aware of his reckless behaviour. Poveda must return to Manchester Magistrates Court on the 6th October for sentencing. please log in to view this image A lot of things happen behind the scenes that people don't see Brenden Aaronson has all but burnt his bridges after a scathing attack on his parent club during a recent interview. Expectations were high when Leeds signed him sixteen months ago for £25m, but for whatever reason, things never worked out for him. After a season to forget, the 22yo was one of the first players out the door, penning a season long long at Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin. His hasty retreat to the Deutsch Capital, coupled with his terrible performances of last season, have done little to endear himself to the Leeds faithful, but judging by the stats, things are going no better for him on loan. He has featured twice (out of three games) for Urs Fischer's side this season, and currently sits bottom of the 'Whoscored' form guide with a 5.59 rating. It now seems that Aaronson may have burnt his bridges regarding a possible return to Elland Road next Summer after insinuating that behind the scenes goings-on, made things difficult:- “As a player, it was good. I enjoyed my time, I learned a lot. It was definitely ups and downs. The first half of the year was a real high. I think we played really good football at the time. The second part of the year, stuff happens. It was tough. A lot of things going on with the club, people that aren’t seeing things, it’s tough. I learned a lot. Lots go through stuff like this and it only gets better.” please log in to view this image Can Leeds keep hold of wonder-kid Leeds face competition from both the blue and red sides of Manchester to keep hold of 14yo wonder-kid Finley Gorman. The young school boy has been in devastating form for the young Whites this season, so much so that he has broken into Scott Gardner's U18's team. He became the youngest player in U18PL history to score 2 goals on his debut (he got an assist too.) He plays predominantly as an inverted right winger, who likes to cut-inside. In his first nine appearances of the season, he's already bagged 20 assists/goals. Gorman received his International (U15's) call up earlier this year, and now has four England caps to his name (one goal and one assist). please log in to view this image
Morning all. Football in a farcical state. On one hand we have Gnonto and all his carry on. He'd played a half dozen games for us and Neville and co were touting him for City at that point. Now we've a 14 year old who realistically well probably never see play a senior game for us. Opposite end of the market is the useless AAronsson and Kristensson. Likely never recoup a penny of what we paid for either of them. Everton and Villa break every rule to maintain pl status and now alls forgiven, same with city whereas every second day ffp gets tossed around as a reason for our lack of investment and has been for past five seasons. Its tougher by the day maintaining interest in the sport if it even qualifies as that anymore
Morning all If Poveda is jailed then we should rip up his contract. One he should set an example and 2 we shouldn't have him on the books while he's sat at his majesty's pleasure. Aaronsson has burnt his bridges ok then bye bye. See ya later. Hope you enjoy your time in Germany.
Morning all, So the update you've all been desperately waiting for. My mate has broken radio silence and messaged me about the krakow trip. He initially thought that my problem lay with the flight mix up. When I explained the rest of my problem he threw back at me that it wasn't his fault. It was my fault for not talking about the trip enough for the last couple of months. Radio silence has resumed after I asked the question "so because I didn't talk about the trip enough you guys were going to go without me?"
Morning all. Think we need to know more about Aaronson is referring to when he says there was "A lot of things going on with the club" in the second half of the season. Could be anything from punch up at half time against Palace or repeatedly changing managers etc etc. Seems to me that he's just being honest in that things weren't stable and it ultimately effected everybody. Does that mean he's burn't his bridges...no not for saying the truth and he did say he enjoyed his time at Leeds and learn't a lot even though there were ups and downs. Fact is though he's not wanted back so it's all a bit moot.
Hoepfully you watched England giving the Jocks a footballing lesson last night as it was more than enough to warm the cockles of anyones footballing heart. Even Phillips looked good
Talking of Kalvin Phillips. How about a cheeky loan bid in January with an obligation to buy if we get promoted ?
Yes but they had a group chat thing going you were not aware of. Then your mate says oh we was looking for someone to make it up to six. Which one is the best mate?.
The only way to talk and get your message out mate is to go on the square ball podcast my takeaway from this fiasco is that you were obviously being talked about behind your back. Even if it was just: “what’s up with him he doesn’t talk about the trip so obviously doesn’t want to go …..”
Phillips was brilliant last night and if Pep not playing him expect to see him at Spurs or Liverpool in January
National anthems were good. Lost interest after that. Switched over to eastenders or some such rubbish
What is there to talk about after the initial suggestion and everyone saying they are going? I've got a stag do in March (weekend of Leeds v Millwall so hopefully that will be on telly as well!!") to start with the weekend was agreed upon and flights and hotel was suggested, not everyone are on the same flight but we all get there within a few hours of eachother and from what I can gather we are all in the same hotel, nothing to discuss until nearer the time or should I start worrying because I haven't gone on about it since I booked it?. The fact that your mate won't admit he ****ed up and try to include you in the plans now says a lot about him and I would swerve him for at least a good while if not forever.
Agreed Ringo. Pick a destination, book hotel, book flights - then chill. No need for all this WhatsApp group bollocks.
