Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here, but apparently Ben Voase has gone to a college in the USA (New York). They have proper football teams there, their American football uni games get something like 30,000 fans at some games, their unis all have their own stadiums. Be interesting to see how he gets on, be a culture shock from playing at Beverley Town on a Saturday.
- Harvey Cartwright played the full 90 in Grimsby's 2-0 loss to Barnsley - Brandon Fleming played 81 minutes in Shrewsbury's 3-0 loss to Forest Green - Ryan Woods came on in the 64th minute in Bristol Rovers 4-1 win over Cheltenham - Jack Leckie played the full 90 minutes in Farsley's 4-0 loss to Blyth
Opening game of this seasons College American Football took place in Dublin???!!! a couple of weeks back. Notre Dame versus Navy. Full house attendance, 40,000 of whom travelled over from the States
There are 8 stadiums in the USA of 100,000 or more. All are college stadiums. A frie nd of mine. was coaching football at Columbus years ago. Capacity of their stadium 102,000. The football (soccer)team played at one with a capacity of 28,000. Someone at work told him his son was playing in a schools game on the Saturday if he was interested. He met him expecting to be stood on the sidelines of the pitch. It was in a 12,000:capacity stadium. And was full. A lad my son played with is coaching there now along with a lad from Hull who he played football and rugby against. They love it.
Jake Leake started well, then had an absolute stinker in his last game where he was playing with a torn hamstring despite asking to come off which only aggravated it.
That's rather a stupid thing to do, what were the coaches thinking? Nigel should have pushed the coaches to get him off, surely.
God knows, I know he’s not happy about it, but slightly naive him his part i must admit to not go down and try carry on.
ST a little bigger than 30,000 at some games for many over a 100,000. https://www.maizenbrew.com/football...nce-2022-season-college-football-big-ten-ncaa
- Harvey Cartwright was an Unused sub in Grimsby's 1-1 draw to Bradford - Tom Nixon came on in the 62nd minute in Doncaster's 2-1 loss to Wrexham Hard to believe how we got easily beaten by this shocking Donny side
It does make you think, but it often happens. I think it is purely down to mindset. The lower team probably up their game 10% because it against a higher opposition, and the higher team thinks it is going to be easy subconsciously and their performance drops 10%, so you end up with a 20% difference in effort.
For what it's worth, I don't think it was easily beaten. It was a close game in which we had a lot of chances. It was a frustrating game (to say the least) and I think that colours people's recollection of how the game played out.
Seems to be really wasting his time there. He’s had a few really good cameos recently (judging from social media reaction) and then follows it up with not playing
