Just had a message off Kcom saying my internet is going up by £3 as iam out of contract, as anyone moved across to Infinics yet ? There price is considerally cheaper but i do need to keep a landline.
Kcom must be one of the most inefficient companies going! Every time I come across them there's not just a couple of workmen doing an installation but a whole mob of them, with them all just stood around whilst 1, or sometimes none of them are actually working. Rarely if ever see just 1 van, it's like they have to come in 3 or more vans at once. I've honestly seen it time and again around ER. I've even been sorely tempted to take photos and send them to their H.O., but then it's actually nothing to do with me. I just hate to see such clear inefficiency and taking the piss. Some of you are unfortunately having to pay for this.
In fairness to Kcom it's not just them, it's everyone, it used to be a standard joke with my mum when we were travelling through the countryside going from place to place, every single time we would see a group of workman like yourself there would be one or 2 at most working and the rest, the majority just stood around talking. In hindsight should of counted the number of different firms this involved.
Few years ago I had my gas supply disconnected and reconnected in a different location. About 20 mins work. 3 blokes turned up, in 3 different vans. One bloke did the work, the other was a 'supervisor', the third was 'just in the area' (his words), he wasn't even qualified to relocate a gas main!
Telegraph poles sprouting everywhere, pavements ripped up and the council are powerless to prevent this vandalism. Vandalism? Whoa that's a bit harsh. Check out the reinstated paving slabs down some streets.
You can keep your existing KC number when you move, althought it will be VoIP with your new provider.
OK, bit of a thread bump. The path outside my house is starting to look like the M25, as I now have 4 different shades of tarmac on it! MS3 networks and Grain Connect have dug up the path and installed competing fibre networks to KCOM. The Grain fibe isn't currently lit as they have not completed the other half of the street and they are coming back next week to finish off the job, our side of the road was completed 6 weeks ago, the MS3 network fibre is lit and ready for use. I did see someone on the street having the MS3 installers digging up their front garden to run the fibre from the moleshot hatch on the path to their house. So far they are only people who have been brave enough to leave Kcom and go to the lower cost competing providers. Has anyone on here connected to the MS3 networks's providers or direct to Grain Connect? I would love to hear your opinions. A Grain Connect sales guy did call at the house a few months back before the work started and said Grain Connect were the only company offering full fibre to the property (FTTP) in Hull, when I pointed out to him that we have had FTTP fibre in Hull from KCOM for many years, he didn't look very happy and that put me off Grain straight away.
Can anybody explain why KCOM could not allow other networks access to their fibre network? Capacity overload? Billing? Very soon the city will have more lumps of wood sticking out of the ground than Sherwood Forest. As well as a massive bill for pavement works. That will be us then.
They do. It’s cheaper than digging for one or two customers in an area, but if you’re on a misguided “land grab” for customers using someone else’s money it might seem better to dig. Many of these Altnets will go under, give it time.
I do wonder this. They're doing what BT and the other big boys have never wanted to do by coming into Hull, at a time when it must be more expensive to do than ever, and the KCOM customer base must be less bothered about ditching them than ever. At a glance it seems completely bonkers.
I don’t think it’s their money they’re using. Government grants from when Boris promised Gigabit broadband to everyone
I rang them and said i was moving over to a competitor brand. Don't recall the name. But i got something like £16 off my monthly bill for signing up again
Bit of a thread bump, at last KCOM has got some 'known name' competition arriving in Hull. TalkTalk are now offering packages using the MS3 networks, you can get symmetrical 100Mb service for £29.99, 500Mb for £33.99 and 1Gig for £39.99 per month all on 24mth contracts (KCOM also use 24mth contracts) further info at https://www.ms3networks.co.uk/packages-and-prices
9 people stood around a re- tarmaccing around a drain in Cottingham on Friday... one shovelling and raking 8 watching including a young woman. In fairness they all had hands on their hips offering suggestions...
Sick of hearing people in Hedon moaning about bloody poles because MS3 are rolling out their system. I get it on the main street which has hundreds of years of history and the look should be preserved but these people are bitching about poles going outside their house on estates. I've had a big brown Kcom one for years, it's hardly a drama is it?
Honestly mate there is a group on Facebook for Hedon people and they're going mad about them. They held a protest the other day in the centre of Hedon.
I think they've got a point. The poles are a lazy, cheap way of fitting fibre and in most cases the fibre has already been laid in the ground by KCOM, so it's totally pointless from an engineering point of view and is making a mess of their street. I don't think that it being an estate should affect anything.
They're not moaning about the purpose of the poles though, they're moaning about them being unsightly from what I could gather. Typical snobs. The same people who were complaining about a tramp who was living in Hedon and a Turkish Barber who had a flashing light in his window. I've been here 16 years after growing up in Bilton, it is one of the worst areas for snobbery around and I lived in Mortlake/Richmond for a while!!
