Any potential visiting fans need to take heed regarding the ULEZ zone in Bristol. However my visit to take/ drop off the XYL into the BRI to see her dad, rushed in a couple of days ago actually leads you into a "oneway system" if you drive from Bus depot end to BRI entrance, that is actually "not marked as such" ............ Unless I missed it! no access to Baldwin street from city centre no access to city centre from colston street. So needed to go up past turn into st Micheals hill [ that is a longish way round] and turn down into Park street. The main polluted area is around the city centre so that is where most of the third? fourth? revised traffic flow has been implemented ... to stop pollution? ... NO .. increase it! took me 3 goes to get past traffic lights by hippodrome ... and just 1 taxi turned left into the dedicated route to Baldwin street! from Anchor road junction to Bus station roundabout took me 7 mins of stop start diesel pollution! along with about 30 other vehicles in front of me! took me 28 mins to get there [ BRI used to be about 18 and coming home it took 39 mins used to take me about 18! Well done Mr DUMMY MAYOR ON EXTRACTING MONEY FROM MOTORISTS to kill, or help to the pedestrians and people working within the city centre clean air zone ........ HANG ON THERE it is not clean air it is highly polluted, slow traffic more fuel burned more particulates [ even from vehicles less than 10 years old ] what a legacy you take to your grave " you screwed the people of Bristol"
The whole thing is a complete con.. I believe there’s a vigilante group set up to vandalise the cameras.. good on them I say!!
there is over 500 been done in London in the new zone, like more as that is the number of events been logged by police! The con was the same as the congestion zone make it worse to quantify it . TO SAVE BEING BORED AND TO MAKE DELIVERIES QUICKER IN LONDON, USED TO GO THERE 2 OR 3 TIMES A WEEK apologies caps! I used to make notes of routes and time on certain traffic light sequences to see if a quick side road was better route etc .. The freebie paper/local news did mention that some of the lights were changed! i had loads of notes and checked a few a sure enough some lights had a 5 - 10 sec delay when other lights had stopped traffic stop time was also increased by up to 15 secs and also did it the other way made sequence quicker so shortened the times by 10 sec or so at stop! [ so traffic was slower as it was sarting more times from stop!... Bristol screwed up traffic speeds and caused more idle time so pollution was greater [ friend also said ? ] they used data after warm periods with low low wind as opposed to data in the rain or in strong breezes ... CONS.... yes
It’s just another scam disguised as a ‘Green’ initiative to extort money - mainly from poor people who can’t afford the new hybrid cars.
Love the way that a very small part of the Portway is included in the Ulez zone which means that anyone visiting Bristol by car, and using that route, gets caught!! Great way to encourage tourism - not!!
I think an intent is to turn the centre into a ghetto for students. Poor people cant live in the centre and keep filling it with students surround it with cazs and working class people are exclude further from the centre. Rees shifted the arena which would have brought more people into the centre. nearly every development around the centre is for students thousands and thousands of flats for rich students who dont need cars!!! who are pro all this green cons? middles class types and students the ones who keep labour in power in bristol. the centre is becoming a ghetto.
on our journey in my xyl did comment as we approached the bus station roundabout the number of young girls there was milling around there seemed to be an absence of male persons" but quite a few "in doorway homeless" dumps, occupier had left a card on it saying please help or please donate a £1
The central area is already a ghetto I was really shocked when I went there a couple of months ago for the first time in 2 or 3 years. The whole ULEZ thing is a total cash grab by Labour Councils across the UK who continue to squander their money on other rubbish ideas.
if indeed there is a conspiracy to damage the camera's [ the only realistic way to rebel against the zone ] it will prove to be costly ... London zone is suffering massive losses of camera's portable angle grinders the weapon of choice!
Not sure how the hospital thing works, .. IS IT JUST APPOINTMENTS? or is it for visiting as well? My xyl didnt think it through when The only transport to get her dad home was taxi because all other transport [ private ] had to pay the zone fee ... which was half or more of the cost of the taxi!
The basic thing is that most people living here want to breathe clean air, whether that's in London or Carlisle. But what Khan has done is just see unlimited £ signs coming into his coffers and by extending the scheme out towards the Kent coast and in other directions away from the diesel (that we were told were better for us and environmentally friendlier that petrol !) fumes of cars, buses and taxis in the central area where it is, or was, polluted. And when the report he commissioned and paid £800k for didn't provide the evidence he needed to get this over the line in an honest fashion, he asked for the findings of it to be changed, and they obliged ! And that's the same excuse everywhere it's being rolled out. It's easy money hitting the poor and the motorist in the pocket as usual. Tax upon tax upon tax. Road tax, insurance tax, tax and VAT on motor parts, same on servicing, fuel duty. It never ends. Bad decisions at the top eventually lead to civil unrest with the damage to the camera's, and now the group of 'vigilanties' in the New Forest who have lost all faith in the Police and are doing things their own way to try and stem the spike in rural crime that's affecting them and their livelihoods, and where the Police when called out, don't turn up until 3 days later when expensive machinery has already been stolen and will never be recovered. Then the peoples insurance premiums rise, yet the Police, that we fund, get away with dereliction of duty. And don't get me started on the new fun game for kids of walking into a supermarket and stealing what they want, knowing the Police won't turn up and they'll get away with it up to a certain value of goods. What has happened to our society ? Why are so few people patriotic ? Why is crime seeing a huge rise in incidents ? Is it bad parenting ? Bad schools (if the kids turn up at all given recent stats say 20% of pupils are regularly AWOL) ? Too much immigration ? Too many claiming benefits ? In years to come as the people in power from all sides want us to have a digital country where they can control and limit what you eat in terms of meat, tell you how many holidays/flights you can take, whether you can actually own a car or a house, and basically dictate what you can and can't spend your money on, we'll be like Communist China, if we're not there already. You won't need to think. You will own nothing and you will be happy with the loss of freedom and others running your life for you, the way they see fit. It's deeply scary and dystopian.
I have many lines of information .. one point you raise is thefts .. blatant stealing! Well cant divulge the source or indeed the % of each ethnic individuals but was told of a breakdown of certain crimes to do with theft . But will say, within your post, you "could" find the answer to some 0f it. Certain items have a value that feed one of the 3 main reasons of the theft ..... wont say no more we all probably have our own ideas and in the main you are right with your assumptions!
That's the same reason that France has so many issues currently and unlike here, the people at the top have spoken out and named the ethnicity of the guilty parties and put further measures in place to restrict certain ethnic garments being worn. It's ridiculous that our government and the authorities such as the Police keep quiet here for fear of causing offence We're way too tolerant towards constant wrong doing by certain demographic groups and if you need examples of it, I’d cite the grooming gangs in the likes of Rotherham, and the continued often fatal stabbings in London and other major cities It ain’t wrong to speak up and identify who is largely to blame
At least Communist(!!) China is wealthy, powerful, clean, virtually crime-free and everything runs on time and smoothly. You don’t have the Woke brigade or the Just Stop Oil zealots disrupting life and almost everyone obeys the rules. There are huge benefits in having a powerful state that enforces good behaviour.
It’s not all roses in China though Youth unemployment is rising and their economy is close to recession In addition, it’s not clean. Look at the emissions their thousands of coal fed power stations put out compared to virtually every other country on earth Then there’s their wet markets where Covid could have originated from if it wasn’t a virus leak from a lab
