He's obviously a class player, and at times has played as a RCM rather than a deep lying player. He was class for a while, but at times early last season we were saying we were disappointed he wasn't getting forward as often to score goals etc. He lasted in the deep lying role for a while, but over the last 6 months he's been very off, and maybe he's just not suited to the english game when in that position and needs a change? Imagine how beast our midfield could be if we could allow Bruno to be like Joelinton and be a box to box RCM? Barnes-----------Isak------------Gordon ---Joelinton----------------Bruno--------- -------------------Tonali------------------- He's obviously a guy that can score goals from time to time and create, but maybe his deep lying position is a bit limiting for him?
Why newcastle fans go after their best players when results are poor is beyond me. Stop giving them **** and get behind them when it's needed. It'll get better because he is better and I'll stick to singling out longstaff and the likes.
Reports coming out that Liverpool offered £100m for him in the summer window. That's got to disrupt your mindset, at least temprorarily. Whatever the most loyal of our hardcore fans would like to think, an offer from Liverpool is going to distract most players.
Oh no now they'll crank up the hate suggesting he's not trying and his attitude stinks tears. Newcastle fans are the most self harming fanbase around... Everton are now following suit.
I'm not saying he's not trying, I'm just saying an offer like that is bound to cause a distraction. Like if a rival employer (that's well known) decided to headhunt you and make you an improved offer, you'd be swayed - at least momentarily - while you assess your options (and your loyalty) even if you like your current job/employer.
Said this in a previous thread - I want Tonali in the "6" role with Bruno given more license to roam. Tonali one touch passing will draw players in and then move it on before the oppositiony are close, creating half spaces (Bruno loves to take that extra touch) and Bruno's threading the needle passes on the edge of the box will be more dangerous further forwards. Seems a simple solution to a misfiring midfield currently. Also think we need Willock back as he has that "X" factor about his game - can be playing an average game and come up with something out of nothing to get us on the break - also seemed to have really good chemistry with Isak so may help #14 get back on track.
Said it on another thread the other options are not as good at playing football so? We've had tough games.. isaks been crap but I wouldn't drop him either. It's Brentford at home.
It's not about dropping him it's about changing his position to suit his skill set more and I think it would make perfect sense for Bruno to have more license to get forwards and help the attack while Tonali plays a bit deeper and dictates the tempo. TBH I can't believe that it's not something the staff are already considering personally (if a few of us have thought of it I'd hope the professionals have also).
Munson himself in the match threads said Bruno played poorly Now on a thread that is saying he is class and might need a position change, he comes out saying everyone else is slamming Bruno.
I thought Willock was unbelievable last year. He sort of goes under the radar for some reason but his drive in the midfield really makes us much more of a handful.
Willock should be playing for England... he's criminally underrated and almost ignored by our own fans never mind anyone else. The boy was absolutely tremendous all season.
This is a classic example of how a player improves by not playing. Err, no. He is a good player and a big miss currently but England, no. Would he get in instead of Bellingham or Foden? Definitely not. Maddison who played in W’s position yesterday is a different type of player but, in general terms, is also better than W. He wouldn’t get in ahead of Rice who also is a better player and whilst a dead tortoise is better than Henderson these days that’s not W’s position. So where would he get in and instead of who?
It was against Bolivia. They are the Sunderland of International Football. Except when they are playing at home at 3900m.
He hadn’t played this well in 2023 and maybe before! The current system isn’t working. Bruno’s new contract was signed based on what ever position he wants to play in
That's your opinion I stand by mine and no 11 is set. Willock is a brilliant player. Henderson is still getting games.
