To an extent, yes. Some managers will instruct players to maintain possession rather than try ****. Why else would Maddison be balling for Spurs but looking **** for Southgate? The selection and subs look poor on the face of it. Henderson and Maguire obviously but bringing on dross like Gallagher too.
Are you actually serious? This is what managers actually do you know, they coach the team. So yes, they do tell the players how to play. You sound like a ****ing idiot mate, leave it.
Why would a manger pick them on form/performancies then "instuct" them to play totally different? Wake up man ffs, these players are there to play their game but have precious little time to get used to the different team mates or style. It's all good though because most people whinge when their players are picked for friendlies because they are a waste of time.
He’s not really picking on form or performances if Maguire and Henderson are there but obviously he has his way of playing. He doesn’t just pick eleven and leave them to get on with it.
So a player is in the middle of a match, sees a pass over the top that will free a player in on goal but all of a sudden he thinks "oh, the manager told me not to make this pass in training"
That's it. What actually happens is the international manager picks a bunch of players and just says; go play like you do at your clubs lads, I'll just watch.
I'll tell you what, that Messi fella has had some brilliant managers. Little magician, pah. The manager has had the game controller in his hand making him go past 3 players and stick the ball in the top corner.
Not defending his tactics mate, just pointing out that "like other managers" he doesn't sit there with a game controller in his hands
You are saying that a managers tactics can and do affect a team, which I agree with. Then you follow up with it being no excuse for a player being ****e. So which is it? Southgate’s tactics aren’t getting the best out of our players. Bellingham is used to playing on the front foot, receiving the ball and looking to play it forward. He plays through the middle. Southgate has him stuck out on the left and the teams instructions is slow build up play. It doesn’t suit a lot of our players. It’s stifling them. You can see our team has peaked with Southgate and the first signs of it being in decline are starting to show. He’s sticking to players like Maguire and Henderson because he’s got no plan B.
