Rugby World Cup Thread

Been a good day today. Ireland won 82-8 after conceding the early try.
France I said before the start, and loved watching them beat All Blacks at their own game last night.

 

I’ve tried in the past to be interested in Rugby but it really does nothing for me.

 

A question for you then, Dyson or Shark ?

 

I don’t mind the 6 Nations and the World Cup but I don’t make a special effort to watch it (although I might if England are in the final).
A bit like the women’s football; I want England to do well and if it happens to be showing in the room I’m in then I’ll watch it.
Now, Rugby is a game where I don’t know the offside rule and don’t understand why sometimes there is a scrum. It all seems a bit random (but of course it isn’t).

 

England were awesome last night -The pumas were favourites and we gave them a rugby lesson.

 

Watch it and you will understand it better. The rules do change so takes a bit to catch up every 6 nations.
I don’t follow club rugby, but international I love. Football it’s club but internationals I can take or leave. Like Euro’s and World Cup as it’s on. But I much prefer Rugby internals.
I’m always torn when City or playing and Wales in the 6 nations. I’ve even listened to the football and watched the rugby.
My wife finds it funny and thinks I’m mad that I can follow two games. Weird once Wales scored a try and city conceded so I cheered and said bollocks at the same time .

 

A kicking lesson maybe, but nothing inside their 22. Let’s not get carried away if not for those 3 drop goals giving the first half lead. Forcing Argentina to come and make so many mistakes in the second half.
Do you think, the other big ones would have made those sort of mistakes.

Said months ago it’s Frances year, but can’t rule out the Irish. I know Irelands game was against weaker opponents. But they put it to bed at ease.

 

Played great defensive sets yesterday, really rattled Argentina, however when/if we play against the likes of South Africa, Australia or anyone half decent we will see how good we are which leading up to this tournament has been poor to say the least.

 

To understand any sport I think you must of played it.
Rugby certainly fits that bill and don't let anyone tell you a ref understands what happens at each scrum.
It's guesswork.

 

Ireland for me possibly against France in the final.

 

I played for the school team, hooker or flanker, still didn’t understand it properly and the rules have changed so much since the 70’s.

 

I watched Bath a few times when Chilcott, Spurling, Robinson, Guscott, Barnes,Trick, Hill etc were playing.
I'd politely ask a few around me on the popular side at Bath for reasons why the ref had blown. Sometimes I'd get 3 different explanations.
Apparently it's all down to 'interpretation'.
A refs 'get out' if I've ever heard one.

 

I played winger (fly half) at school because I was fast.
Hated the game.
Now I’m 3 times the weight I was and confident enough to give someone who pisses me off a dead leg or a bloody nose I might give it another try!!!!

 

I played rugby at school level and did play a couple of games for Woolwich Poly in my late teens and so I understand the rules which makes it a better watch.
