With the main focus on senior players coming in, the younger players recruited have mostly come in under the radar. Few expected that the 19 year old Kellen Fisher would come in from from the lower leagues and play his way into the first team in preseason, displacing Bali Mumba who was then sold to Plymouth. The Brazilian Pedro Lima has also caught the eye but the spotlight has now shifted to CB Emanuel Adegboyega, who turns 20 next week: "The centre-back was signed from League of Ireland side Drogheda United this summer as one of numerous additions alongside Lima, and has already made waves in yellow and green. Just two minutes into the game he outmuscled key Chelsea man Leo Castledine, leaving his opponent on the turf and emerging with the ball to start a City attack. The positive features continued, and it became clear midway through the opening period that the 19-year-old was very comfortable receiving the ball in tight situations. By the 38th minute he’d made a more tangible impact on the game, his dominant header looping into the far corner after Gabriel Forsyth’s crossed free-kick found him. Twelve minutes into the second half he headed off the line to preserve his side’s lead." Adegboyega has settled into the U21s from the start. After scoring the winner against Chelsea he repeated the feat at Leicester a week later as the U21s chalked up another win. “Moving from the League of Ireland to the under-21s, I’m not going to say it was an easy move but the League of Ireland definitely helped me settle quickly and easily into Premier League 2 and under-21s football. I’ve brought the way I played in Ireland here, and it’s definitely helped, certainly. Of course, I’m trying to break into the first team, and establish myself there. I just have to keep working, and hopefully I’m closer than I actually think." Let's hope he is. https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...ty-u21s-emmanuel-adegboyega-academy-analysis/

Up to now we've only had indirect access to Opta stats through other web sites of varied reliability. Good, therefore, to see Opta starting to open up a bit themselves: https://theanalyst.com/eu/2023/08/championship-stats-2023-24-opta/
And, again for those interested, this from @Bethnal Y & G on the site formerly known as Twitter: please log in to view this image Note: "NP" = "non-penalty"
We do, but Robbie isn't getting any attention or bites on the stats thread. The last post was on it in 19/o4/22. Might be a gauge of the level of interest in the topic. But as with other subjects, certain posters persistently continue to to harp on about topics and push agenda's long after the majority have lost interest.
Bloody hell - what next? At least we have some depth in midfield as well as Lima and Manning in the U21s. Finley Welch might be another as he turns 20 in October. From the Pinkun: "Nunez’ injury will be assessed by the medical staff in his native country and the early reports indications are that it looks serious. Reports in Chile suggest Nunez will be subject to further tests on Saturday to determine a proper diagnosis – which could be communicated before his return to England. Nunez suffered the injury after landing awkwardly on his left ankle just minutes before the conclusion of the World Cup qualifying defeat against Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay."
I've read the first page and found this from Cromer: "I'm happy for it to exist - as long as statistical tosh is restricted to this one thread and doesn't infiltrate normal football threads." A simple post saying that exciting statistical analysis of 'Non Penalty' data is now available on the stats thread for those interested would do.
I'm sure those who are genuinely interested would be quite happy to revive the Stats thread, if the "majority" who have no interest would desist from repeatedly telling us how uninterested they are.
I'd really like to know the basis of Cromer's belief that the legitimacy of a Stats thread rests on his being happy about it. The references to "tosh" and "normal football threads" simply betray personal prejudice masquerading as site moderation. Re. your suggestion, if the Stats thread were to be revived, I personally don't see any greater need to flag new posts on it than applies in the case of any other thread.
