The same 11 will beat Brentford..... this idea of putting crap players in instead is pointless. Longstaff was on the pitch for 4 of the 7 goals we conceceded.
Bruno needs to be dropped to get him to wind his neck in a bit tbh, plus it keeps him fresh for Milan and start him there.
I don't agree I think people forget who we've been playing. Bruno Guimareas is not a player I'd leave out at home to Brentford. Joelinton is carrying a knock rest him.
Nah, I don't want Anderson near our CM spots, he leaves a gaping hole there. If we're seriously considering dropping Bruno then Willock or Longstaff should be playing.
Newcastle need to just win a game and stop over thinking it. They'll be fine for two games it's all a load of ****e imo. It's early in the season it'll be fine.
In reality I think we could easily try this - Barnes------------Isak----------Gordon ----Joelinton----Tonali----Bruno------ Hall------Burn--------------Schar------Trippier ------------------Pope--------------------- Bruno could still play he maybe just needs to be removed from that central spot. You could even put Joelinton there.
Anderson was great in pre-season and could count himself a little unlucky to not start the season. I don't see the point in having these youngsters we deem prospects but then hardly ever playing them unless it's a friendly or against Tranmere or something. It's time to use the squad, put him in.
This is why Bruno is struggling he's deep and he's always under pressure of like 4 players.. there's **** all for him to pass to also.
I'm not a fan of Howe rotating the midfield 3. Tonali deepest, Bruno furthest forward, Joelinton all over the place doing a bit of everything, that's what worked before, when Shelvey and Longstaff played DM, and Tonali is better than them anyway. Feel like we are over complicating things at the minute.
Exactly why they should play as a double pivot, you can go 4-2-3-1. Joelinton has not looked like a CM this season. Then you have 3 attacking midfield slots which is about right for us, with Joelinton, Willock, Anderson, Gordon, Barnes, Almiron, Murphy vying to start. I think Anderson is worth a turn in the 10 position, with Joelinton or Gordon and Barnes or Willock either side. Sorry to rehash old arguments but again the Barnes transfer just seems stupid - think about when we did well last season with Joelinton/Willock carrying the left, then Gordon's arrived, then Isak started games out there and did well. So many options over there - meanwhile on the right it's between headless Miggy and hit-the-post Murphy.
Yep, he's making it too confusing - he's expecting Bruno and Tonali to alternate movement forward, but Bruno has been reluctant to do it and Tonali naturally drops deep, but neither are particularly defensive so easy to play through. For me you need a destroyer between them and allow them both more freedom - or 4 attackers in front to allow for a better press.
Joelinton is the destroyer, he can move around, protecting Tonali when we are out of possession and supporting Bruno when in possession, it's just Tonali needs to STAY deep, and Bruno neede to STAY further forward, the rotating thing is confusing matters and the reason we aren't dominating most midfields, when we should be with the quality of these three players. It should be our strongest area of the pitch, but it looks weakest at the minute because of how it's being used. That's on Howe.
