I get what he's saying but kind of disagree - Football is the entertainment industry for the general public, millions turn up or tune in every week across the world, not sure how many of us keep tabs on the price of a barrel of oil for fun, stocks and share prices of Disney or investment revenues of major corps that most of us won't even have heard of for example? That's why it gets a different level of scrutiny - because it's watched by the masses - and the more scrutiny the better in my eyes.
Southgate can **** off. He has probably the best bunch of young players in a generation at his disposal, picks Jordan ****ingHenderson and sticks Bellingham out on the wing. He is a ****.
England do have an incredible crop of players coming through like and some amazing vets still in the side. Kane's pass the other night was absolutely top draw world class. Bellingham is currently the best player at Real Madrid. Yet they're playing Big Sam football.
He's going nowhere because he got easy draws in two major competitions. By the time he leaves the likes of Brasil Spain Italy and Germany will have recovered from the worst spells they've had in decades. Then the replacement will be compared to Southgate based on cup 'runs'. Southgate has his haters on toast basically.
Do think international football as a whole is a lot weaker these days. Other than France team, looking through the rest of the big nations and no real standout teams. Also think doesn’t help that go back 20 years and all the big nations were mainly made up of players playing for a select few clubs. Spains team was mainly made up of Barca and Madrid players. Germany most at Bayern. France ironically had a lot at arsenal. Even brazil has lot of their players playing for madrid/Barca or over at Milan. Meant lot of players were used to playing with each other. Might be wrong, but think If look at the teams now, players are spread out so much that only really have a couple players playing at same clubs so no natural chemistry there. Club football has gone up a level due to finances that I don’t think international football is the pinnacle for a lot of players these days either.
