Ozan Tufan is facing a spell on the sidelines according to Liam Rosenior in what is a big blow to Hull City and their in-form Turkish international. Tufan missed Saturday's terrific 1-0 win at Leicester City with a thigh problem and is likely to miss both home games on City's return to action later this month when Rosenior's Tigers host both Coventry City and then Yorkshire rivals Leeds United. It's expected the 28-year-old will sit out the next two weeks but it's hoped he will return from injury for the Sunday lunchtime trip to Stoke City on September 24.
With Tufan out for maybe the Coventry/Leeds games, I wonder if Liam might push Slater further forward and bring in Tyler Morton alongside Seri and bring Philogene in for Traore or bring in Lokilo on the left and bring Twine more centrally and leave Seri and Slater as the Leicester game.
'Ozan Tufan won’t be involved but squad boosted by the availability of Jaden Philogene, Tyler Morton and James Furlong for Friday night against Coventry'. No registration issue then.
At face value suspect that wasn't any registration issue at all, just that due to the length of Jaden's full name no one at the EFL knew how to print landscape and not portrait to accommodate?
I hope Ozans injury hasn't come at the wrong time for him. He was a bit player (sub) at times last season and I think his increase in form and contribution has come about from being one of the first names on the sheet.. the team is better with him in it...
"Dodo has trained with us today (Thursday)," Rosenior told Hull Live. "He will play for the Under-21s next week to build up his fitness. It'll be great to get him in some kit - it's been five months since he last played a game. "It was the same for Adama (Traoré) last season. We had him play three games before he was available for selection for us. There's two games on Monday and Friday which'll be brilliant for Dodo to play in to build up his match minutes for him to come into contention for us." Scottish midfielder Greg Docherty, meanwhile, is also nearing a return from a knee ligament injury he picked up in the pre-season friendly draw out in Turkiye against Hatayspor in Bursa. "Doc's been out there doing the warm ups with the boys in training, as well as a few ball warm ups which is brilliant," the City boss added.
What is Ozans injury? He got took off early one game and Rosey said he had some personal issues to deal with, then he’s been ‘injured’ ever since.
He had a tear in his thigh which was spotted on a scan, but presumably a minor one because he was only out a couple of weeks. Came on against Leeds and may well have come on again yesterday if he'd been needed.
I heard Rosie on the radio a week or so back, talking about them having to drain fluid out of his leg, it made me cringe.
I notice Sinik wasn't in the squad for the U21s tonight. Rosenior said the plan was for him to play 60 minutes in this one. I wonder if he's had a further setback.
