Down to 17th next up 4th placed Lincoln, can't see us climbing the table with the players on parade today, movement was slow, there was not much threat in attack, Thomas excepted, we were out muscled by Wycombe and out conned by a ref and linesman on the Drybuild stand side of the pitch who gave us nothing all afternoon
Winning 2 - 0 but still no goals from our strikers Belshaw reinstated to keep goal, feel sorry for Max Hall our new GK, if he is called upon in a league game he will have had no playing time to get used to the defence
Gibbons cancelled his goal by scoring an own goal, but Street also scored an own goal to give us a 3 goal lead
Build up to the first goal was really good. Then what a miss from the Cheltenham player. What a strike from Evans and Collins for their goals. Both own goals were well taken!
Rovers travel to The Croud Stadium against Shrewsbury, who are currently 14th after a 2-0 defeat in the League to Carlisle United. Both teams have had a weekend away from the action due to the international break, with Rovers going into the game on a high from the 4-1 victory against Cheltenham in the EFL Trophy. Form Guide Shrewsbury - WLWLL Rovers - DWLLW Referee will be Tom Reeves. He was the ref in Rovers 1-0 defeat away at Lincoln last season. He was also ref for Shrewsbury twice last season. 1 draw and 1 defeat. The previous season he was the ref vs Tranmere at home in a 2-2 draw. 2 seasons with no wins for either side. Rovers are currently tipped at 11/8 for the win and Jevani Brown can be backed at 15/2 to open the scoring.
Today's line up v Shrewsbury Cox, Hunt, Friend, Wilson, Taylor, Woods, Evans, Bogarde, Marquis, Thomas, Collins Subs Belshaw, Crama, Finley, Grant, McCormick, Vale, Brown. 4-3-3 formation 5th minute Friend down injured, 7th minute Grant replaces him Rovers had three corners in three minutes a bit like Bristol buses you wait for ages and three come all at once 30th minute Marquis yellow carded Delay in match as Andersen was in the tackle from marquis game now resumed only a brief stoppage
42nd Evans yellow carded kicking the ball away at a free kick 3 minutes extra time at the end of the first half HT 0 - 0 Following the game on I follow and Dan Hargreaves and I have seen nothing on either thread to suggest Rovers can score a goal or two and win the match. Guess the playoff's will have to wait until next season According to Dan Hargreaves in the 59th minute McCormick was stripped and ready to come on 66th minute still hasn't appeared 68th minute Kieran Phillips and Tom Bayliss on Mata and Winchester off for Shrews and Thomas and Woods off for Brown and McCormick
Dunkley yellow carded for dissent 69th minute 73rd Minute Marquis for Rovers from a Collins cross 76th minute Fleming and Bowman on, Benning and Udoh off 82nd minute Finley on Evans off Sobowale replaced Finnigan 87th minute Hunt yellow carded 5 minutes and Rovers have a second but Dan Hargreaves isn't sure who scored it. Connor Taylor put it goal bound but Collins got a touch to claim the goal FT Shrewsbury 0 - 2 Bristol Rovers Couldn't see that at HT they didn't look like scoring from everything that was put up by I follow and Daniel Hargreaves
Went to today's match v Wigan, the home team played in Blue and White Quarters but they weren't a team I had seen before at any home league game. They attacked with purpose found players in their own team with passes and generally looked like a team that might climb the table. Somebody said it was Bristol Rovers in the Quartered shirts but I still wasn't sure if he was winding me up. A really good attacking performance and well worth the three points, bad challenge on Evans that neither the Ref or his assistant thought was worth a free kick but Evans left the pitch at the end with a bag of ice strapped to his ankle
Todays line up v Peterborough Cox, Hunt, Vale, Taylor, Grant, Finley, Bogarde, Evans, Marquis, Thomas, Collins. Subs Hall, Hoole, McCormick, Sinclair, Woods, Brown, Martin Darrell not got off to a good start at Cheltenham 1 down after 5 minutes First yellow of the afternoon to Collins of Peterborough 15 minutes played, according to Dan Hargreaves the player booked was Kyprianou 19 minutes Collins puts the ball in the net but it was flagged offside Collins scores 1 - 0 Posh 26th minute Jones yellow carded for foul on Marquis 32nd minute HT 1 - 0
