Be really interested to see Isak and Gordon rotate the position during games (bit like Willock and Joelinton last year) - Gordon seems to have a higher work rate off the ball and would certainly help with the higher press while Isak looks comfortably our best player in 1v1 situations so the switch (especially while out of possession) could benefit the team nicely with Gordon making runs between the CB/FB trying to open up spaces for Isak to exploit when we do get the ball back with Miggy and one or two of the CM's bursting into the box as well - would create mayhem.
Isak is a striker I'd say, his scoring record was 1/2 last season, he scored 2 against villa, can't blame him for not scoring in the last few games really with how ****e we've been.
He can't hold it up I like a striker that can stop the ball coming back.. isak for me is better out on the left .
It's a weird one - agree he's not a hold the ball up type but equally he is the best finisher (i.e. striker) we have. He's not a "complete" CF in the way Wilson can drop in and hold it up/to receive or run in behind etc but he is a better "striker" imo. It'd be really interesting to see them up top together but doesn't seem to be in Eddies wheelhouse to play the two together.
Doesn’t protect enough out there. We need to build to his strengths by playing 4231 - we’re playing in a manner that needs Isak to be an isolated striker, which isn’t his game. It’s all a bit confused from Howe.
It’s not really though is it, he’s played 4-3-3 for coming up 3 years and I’ll bet my left bollock he has a better idea of what to do than you do
Approaching 2 years, and I'm sure he does, it just looks a bit confused because Isak is isolated in this formation and we're struggling to create chances because, again, it looks a bit confused that we're still trying 1-2's with Miggy. It looks a bit confused because a three man midfield is being over-run by other teams "lesser" midfields.
Wonder if Howe will play Wilson and Isak in a game each seeing as it's Saturday-Tuesday turnaround, interesting to see which ones if he does.
Agreed but we need to adapt, we can't be reliant on one or two players, like the defence collapsing as soon as Botman wasn't there.
I'm a tad concerned about the people blaming Isak tbh. I don't see how we can be blamed for anything. He was ****e vs Brighton but the team were ****e. Against City he never had a chance. Against Liverpool we could barely create anything, and Isak was the reason VVD was sent off and that should have sealed our victory. Right now his scoring record is 25 apps 12 goals, and some of those were sub apps remember, and also remember the goals he assisted.
