Blimey, i hope you are not complaining about refs … Are you not a Utd fan? Most of your success is built on refs.
I doubt you will rarely (if ever) see me complain about refs. I grew up in an age where i watched the game from way up in the stands and if the ref said NO at the other end of the pitch i would accept it with the same grace as if he said YES. I will reitterate, it's a game played by humans and reffed by humans never meant for close up slomo scrutiny.
That's the opposite of what I want. I want an example of where a ref makes a decision. Var thinks it might be wrong so sends him to monitor. Referee watches it back but disagrees with VAR and maintains his original decision. 99.999% of the time the ref changes his mind.
Aha, OK this is a good one. So one example in years of VAR. Got a source for it? Searching for spurs, Brighton, var, hojberg just brings up the 2-1 controversial match earlier this season.
That's what VAR is for, giving a ref a second chance at a contencious decision. it doesn't over rule the ref as some of your fellow supporters seem to think
I think Arsenal fans are actually worried about their team. You would think that they had lost yesterday.
Yes, clearly. And my question is...even though it's not actually for giving decisions itself, 99.99% of the time the ref does change the decision. Which means surely after several years they're subconsciously going up already thinking that they're going to see something that's probably going to mean they change their mind and they've got something wrong.
I am worried about refs for sure, not our team. Last year we lost at least 5 pts because of their bad decisions, including the absurdity of a VAR official ‘forgetting’ to draw the lines when checking for offside.
Well exactly. ‘Getting the ref to check’ is just process. At that point VaR have basically overturned an on field decision. What’s strange to me is the ref never seems to be talking much to the VAR official as the review is taking place. He’s probably listening but not saying much if anything.
I agree the game should not have this tech. Slows it down too much and still too many mistakes. If we have to have it, offside and goal line only. Real black and white decisions.
No absolutely not. The front angle you can see the second contact much clearer. From the angle the ref looked at you can't see the contact because it's being obscured by the players legs. The ref should be looking at the clearest view of the incident. They should probably be shown multiple views.
The funny thing is we had one subjective decision 'The penalty decision'.. was there enough contact blah blah blah. But the Garnacho offside decision is not subjective at all. The pitch has been 3d mapped, it might have looked close from the camera angle but they have the 3d data that shows exactly where on the pitch the players are.
3 contacts Bear. The first is when WB pushes his arm into Havertz back to try to put him off. This is not a coming together - he stretches his arm out and leans into Havertz back. The second occurs when Havertz training leg hits WB's leg - because WB is too close. We often see free kicks and sometimes red cards when a defender is behind a forward and legs tangle. The idea that Havertz ran into WB is a non starter. The third is when Casimiro attempts to cut off the space to run through and lunges in from the side making contact. At no point before the third contact is Havertz falling - he's just been buffeted to try and put him off. It was the third contact that sent him down. My own view is that he decided to go down because that third contact and the squeeze by both players had made it difficult to get a shot away. The simple question has to be asked - and one VAR should have asked themselves - is why would Havertz go to ground with a clear shot at goal in front of the defenders if he was not impeded in some way? Makes no sense. If I was looking at the incident in isolation I would probably say 'no penalty', but once the decision had been given it an absolute farce that VAR would overturn it.
I thought the offside was level when I first saw it, but it was actually a brilliant piece of play from Gabriel to stop his run and force Garnacho offside. As for the pen, there was contact. It's one of those ones that you'd think was soft if it went against you, but it was a foul and therefore should have stood. So basically Utd were lucky they didn't lose that game 4-1
Ødegaard has already scored as many goals against the traditional big -6 (PL) as Mesut Özil having played almost 100 fewer matches. He has already also outscored Cazorla, Rosicky, Nasri and has as many goals as Aaron Ramsey against the big six. He needs 2 more to match Fabregas.
Sorry mate...only just seen this. Here's a bbc report that mentions it... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54679345 Here's highlights link... Around 4 mins 10 seconds mark
