I agree with you that he used to be less popular, but I don't get why that's relevant.

Yes, it's stupid to suggest a striker's job is just to score and that he is **** if he doesn't, it's just a far too simplistic way of looking at it, there are so many other more important jobs than just being the one who gets the goal to their name. It was a failing team which dramatically drops your chances of scoring. If he was missing chances all the time I would maybe accept your point but he didn't, he simply didn't get many chances for whatever reason.

This bold bit is relevant. Fryatt misses chances regularly so people have a right to complain, but just looking at Altidore's stats for us over one season in a ****e team and saying "No, that's not enough goals, he's ****" based on nothing but that one statistic is far too simple.

I gotta say the current team based on player by player.

    Myhill-Basso Feels more steady/reliable
Macca-Rosie Rosenior simply has more class
Moyo-Chester I really liked Moyo and he might very well have won against Hobbs, but I gotta give it to Chester
Gardner-Hobbs. Tie. I feel that Gardner has a higher top level, but falls on his unstability from time to time.
Dawson-Dudgeon Dudgeon is the future. Daws is passed it I'm afraid.
***an-Brady I am kinda disappointed by Brady so far, but never really liked ***an. Brady would have lost against Hunt though.
Boat-Mckenna. McKenna wins by TKO. Boat is passed it.
Cairney-Evans. I feel that I gotta give something to the "home team". Cairney feels like more of a threat.
Hunt-Koren. Tie. Koren's highest level is better, but he tends to fall out of games/never enter them from time to time.
Jvoh-Fryatt. Tie.Fryatt seems totally out of confidence. Hesselink woud still do a decent job. Frytt wins with better form, but not now.
Altidore-McLean. Tie. More or less the same player type. Good team players. Gives 100 % every game. Wouldn't have mind either.

I'd take the current team Back 5, although Mouyo and Hobbs are tied, a mid-field of Brady Koren Evans Hunt, and Altidore and McLean up front. So only Hunt and Altidore from the Prem team. Which tells me our present team, particularly if you add Stewart, is not too bad.

Ok this is weird. Altidore was less popular than McLean is...and rightly so, he couldnt score in a frigging brothel when he played for us. He was the eternal underachiever. If he was in this current team, playing like he did then, you fookers would be all over him like a whiney annoying rash.

Personally I was always a fan of Altidore, worked hard and won plenty of fouls around the 18 yard area. He wasnt scoring as many as he should but he was very much a young\raw McLean (without the springs!)

He certainly wasn't ready for Premier League football and I wasn't convinced he was up to Championship football either, but to be fair to the others on here, there were quite a lot of people on 606 who thought that he would be far more effective in the Championship and that we should try and get another seasons loan.

Out of them I would pick the following (based on performances when they played for us not current ability/fitness etc.)

    Myhill
    Rosenior - Chester - Mouyokolo - Dawson
    Brady - Boat - Koren - Hunt
    JVoH - Altidore

Also worth noting JVoH and Altidore both had a fantastic game against Man City.
