It was a good game by the team. Arsenal aren’t worth the salt in my opinion. Conversely, United are better than media tries to portray. Solidly controlled the tempo throughout but we didn’t use the spaces in front to stretch them. I’m definitely positive after this game.

Didn't see the first half but caught the second, and it was promising.

Travesty to disallow that goal, since when is level off side ffs!?!

Onana should save their second, he does concern me unfortunately.

    I've never trusted African keepers.

Apologies if that is racist or something, but name me a decent one!

They got a third as we chased the draw, irrelevant really. Other than Rashford pulling out of his 'challenge'.

Three of the back four being injured is a pain but Magure and Lindelof now have to do a job. Amrabat will help there.

And Hojlund is bound to he an improvement on Martial, hard not to be.

Four games in, that's it. You'd think we're about to be relegated the reaction by some, it's ridiculous.

Man's like so many other Dortmund "stars", can't hack it outside the German league.

Not all before someone points out a success story like Shingi.

The timing is this is extremely poor! Transfer window is closed and the manager is openly criticizing a player that wasn’t even on the pitch. Why not fkin sell him a week ago when he wasn’t training well? Clearly ETH is not a fan of Sancho and should have been offloaded when we had the chance. We should have been focused on players that were playing today. Instead we are now doing a Mourinho.

I find the way the club operates to be self destructive.

Maybe ETH thinks he can change his attitude but today got asked a question and gave can honest answer.
Either way there will only be one loser if things don't change.

If you think that is somehow racist, it is most likely not the best statement to make. You can’t draw a broad umbrella over a whole continent because a goalkeeper lets in a deflected goal. We should be critical of the players, not where they are from! Besides, where were the defenders as Rice had all night to control the ball from corner then hit the ball without a single block effort? Similar soft goal was conceded last week with no one challenging for the ball. Onana too should have covered that tight end.

    Back to the game overall…
Onana got my heart pumping every time the defenders used him to play from the back. I hate it!!

However, I must admit that the tactics really limited Arsenal’s approach and allowed us to control the tempo of the game from the back. I believe this is the vision that ETH sees in using Onana and letting go of De Gea. We lost far too much possession from the goal kicks with DDG. That is changing with this new setup.

If we can solidify the midfield and the balance the ball to the flanks, I think we will have ourselves a solid team that will be harder to beat.

There are very few keepers in the world who have the reflexes of De Gea, he is truely like a cat (Peter Bonetti nickname reference for those old enough).
Onana has been brought in to play as part of the defence as a whole not just a shot stopper, only time will tell the wisdom (or otherwise) of this.

Why can’t defenders just do their job better? I really do not get why the last man has to constantly touch the ball. It will lead to a mistake one of these days, that’s for sure!

Well no, it's not racist, it's an observation based on the fact I've yet to see a truly great keeper come out of African. But in the current way of the world, I'm sure there is someone could pin a racist tag on it!

My actual observation is based on the fact I don't think he's all that, to be absolutely honest.

Nothing to do much else, but the broader point remains on African keepers.

Hopefully ETH can find a Saudi club to take Sancho in the next week or so. Take £80m for him and tell him to **** off if he's not prepared to fight for his place.

One thing about yesterday with us ending the game with Maguire and Evans as centre halves is it's a big shame that one of Tuanzebe or Mengi couldn't have been kept on instead.

Both had bags of potential, how have we ****ed that up?

Although to have three of the first choice back four now injured is piss poor luck.

I'd be looking to have AWB at centre half and play Dalot at right back now.

I'm against signing any player that will be lost to international competition duty at the critical stage of our domestic league competition..

I personally agree with you on Onana that he isn't all that. I question how we can get one 25year old international for £5m and pay £43m for another especially if the £43m one can't keep the ball out with his fkin hands. That one is certainly on ETH to address.

However, I still don't see any reason whatsoever to bring up the broad umbrella of "African Keepers" as though something is chronically wrong with keepers from the very same region that has produced so many great players. That is the type of non-empirical narrative that reinforces biases in so many works of life. We have to stick to judging the players based on their performances, and not where they are from.

It is insane reading all the articles about world beater "Declan Rice". I didn't even know he was on the pitch yesterday until that deflected goal. The joy felt by everyone watching United lose is quite something. On the performance yesterday, it won't last!

I think you missed the point, Chief. The point is not to go out and find African keepers that are “great”. It is that you can’t draw a blank statement across a whole continent from what is likely to be a very narrow perspective. Using where someone is from as an indicator of how good they will be is downright a stupid way to evaluate value.
