Sepp and just like his mate Bernie in F1........they can pretty much do or say what they want and bugger all will happen. They have no morals and no other interest except power and cash.
Guys a f**king joke, but hey we knew that already.

More to the point, will Terry or Suarez be banned for 6 months ? Think not.

Bit on the BBC with Becks having his say, not the most articulate of lads but fairly much says Blatter needs to go. Apparently most of the European press aren't interested in the story so not sure much will get done about it.

Very funny colly I think the only bullshit is u don't agree there are diffrent forms of racism and a tiny thing like a racial slur can be settled quickly and away from the media and police. When u get the police involved in what happens in that 90 mins you open a whole new can of worms. Blatter is just sayin basically if ur opponent calls u a racist name just take the high road rise above it, shake hands and move on. Although insensitive I think its correct. But as the president of fifa he should be more tactile and self aware.

Aslong as racist slurs get to your opponent people will still use them to gain an advantage, aslong as we keep racism away from grass roots football and from chanting in the stands I think were doing a good job. How do you suggest racism like the terry affair and suraz affair is settled then? Jail time? Or keep it within football and let the fa handle it?

Best quote I think was from Gus Poyet "I respect him as FIFA president but I don't listen to him when talks about football"

Look, putting aside the fact that we clearly have different views in general (I believe racism in all forms is abhorrent and unacceptable in whatever 'form'), the thing that I've called bullshit on is the idea that Sepp Blatter as head of FIFA has done anything remotely good in terms of tackling it in his tenure. You want to remember him as someone who wasn't good at his job? Why? Why do we have to put up with embarassing comments on race, sex and sexuality? Why do we have to cope with the laughable 'fines' handed out to nations in the wake of racist chanting? And where are his 'exemplary' views on black managers?

Regarding your last point above, its fine to keep racism away from grass roots and the stands, but its acceptable on the pitch at the highest level? Do you realise how much of an influence that has on grassroots? Kids suddenly being taught to do anything they possibly can to unsettle their opponents including racist slurs, as long as its within the 90 minutes of a game? You and I clearly want to live in completely different worlds.

The issue of police involvement is a tricky one, as you then call into question whether players can be done for assault for bad tackles (or Barton punching Pedersen, headbutt incidents involving Tino, Duncan Ferguson etc), but I don't see how racism can be construed as 'part of the game' and an issue for the FA. If you 'lash out' with a racist comment, frankly you should know better and face any punishment that involves. Jail time? Who knows, punishment isn't for me to decide, presumably a fine?

Not taken out of context at all. He said|:

    a. there is no racism in football

    b. if someone calls you a ****ing paki during a match you're supposed to shake his hand at 90 minutes and forget about it.

Poyet for me does make one very good point I completely agree with. We in this country need to get a better understanding of how the rest of the world live. We need to educate the players coming into this country about the cultural differences from their own country. We can like it or lump it, the reality is the zero tolerance views that we hold in this country, are not replicated around the world. Therefore it is only natural that the differences in attitudes to racist language is going to cause problems if we do not educate those coming into the country. The fact is elsewhere in the world if you called someone a black so and so on the field of play or in a normal walk of life, it might not be considered racist by both the person you're saying it to, or that country in general. They will not bat an eyelid because they don't see it as an issue. We hold different and what I consider to be more progressive views. Instead of taking the moral high ground and just condemning folk when it happens, why don't we try and help educate people and take preventative action.
