Good day to be a Sunderland supporter, bad day for Saints supporters... Brighton 3 Newcastle United 0....so far.
It was a **** game today but anyone saying its been an unacceptable start is over reacting imo. We are still only 3 points from the top after being in a constant state of flux from game to game, it’s a reasonable start to the season. But yes, today was an absolute ****bomb.
When you see us getting battered and embarrassed on the pitch, don’t worry We are top of the net earners table. What more could you want as a fan
Sunderland fan in peace here. We have a very good team with some tricky players, we just seem to go under the radar. The lad that took the piss before setting up the 5th goal (,Bennett) hardly featured last seaon, but in the team he came. Most people wouldn't have seen that result coming today but we were on a high after signing some quality players. You's will still be there or there abouts come May imo.
Since they sold their souls, most Sunderland fans aren't really bothered about them anymore.....But I like seeing them loose.
I think Os might even trump you on the "emotive reactions" front! But it's football, it's what we do.
At the moment every team we come up against is giving it full blood, sweat, and tears, while we just saunter around thinking we're a Premier League team still. The first dozen games were always going to be unpredictable as we settle in. Even against the likes of QPR and Norwich we really rode our luck. For me, Plymouth away was our only solid performance. Guess it happens a lot to the relegated sides, even Burnley last year. Hopefully the gaffer can turn it around, but he really should have had enough experience of this league by now, not to be making the basic errors that we have been making so far this season. We seem so easy to play against. Anyway, taking nothing away from you lot. Thought you were great. Especially Clarke, Ekwah and the big CB (O'Nien?). Actually I've been impressed with the other teams we played too this season, apart from Sheff W. Gonna be a roller-coaster season for most teams.
Couldn’t agree more. People called me negative for saying we might even struggle in the champ last season. But we weren’t even doing the basics last season and yesterday we were back to the same weak **** as last season. This is exactly what I feared. Martin can work on progressive, passing football all he likes but if we concede every time the opposition turns the ball over, it’s all for nothing
Apparently 8 out of the 9 winners in the championship yesterday had less possession than their opponents which is interesting.
Fair assessment and you're manager said that when Bennett done the 3 pirouettes of that was a Southampton player he'd have been on the ground. Its hard dropping into the championship, believe me I know, we had a double dip relegation but yous have more about yous. JWP going will probably take some getting used to but I'm sure yous will be fine. Getting back to Bennett, we was a fringe player last season, didn't speak English and in an alien country at 18 years old, but he has learned English, got used to the place and is getting into the team more. We didn't know he had skills like that in his locker. I think yous were unlucky yesterday as you don't see many 25-30 yarders go in and there were two yesterday. The lad that scored the two goals Idolised Zidane so tries to modle his game on him. Yous have Stweart now, keep him fit and he'll score goals. I don't say any of this to brag, but we're a very good team and have just signed a defender from PSG that had regular games last season. As for "09", he is a cult hero here and the last of the Stewart Donald era. He plays anywhere asked of him. Little side note, he is a massive do lover and walks his dog daily down Roker beach, anyway, and this is no joke, he gave a dog CPR last week after it basically drown in the water, the dog is fine now and his legendary status has went up a notch. He also dislocated his shoulder 2 years ago and just pulled it back in the socket and got on with the game. Nice chatting with you. Keep in touch throughout the season.
I must admit, I heard about him and the dog and he went straight into my hero status. I judge people how they are with dogs and animals lol. You were excellent yesterday. Good luck this year - you've had a few **** years (and we know all about that). Hope you finish 3rd (behind us) and go up with us in the playoffs
So I take it you've seen Sunderland til I die on Netflix? lol Yeah Luke got involved in the community as soon as he got here, soup kitchens etc. He loves his dog, and he is always down the beach, been there again today as a family friend has had a photo with him today. Be nice if 2 red and whiles went up this year. Good luck the rest of the season.... not too much luck mind. lol
Well done the Lillywhites! Proud Preston sit atop the Championship!!! Long old season ahead but I for one, would love to see that club get promotion fot reasons I cannot really fathom. I just have a liking for clubs like Preston.
Out of 9 championship games yesterday there were 7 clean sheets It's not rocket science!! We have had time to build a rocket since our last one.
