Todays game was like Deja vu with some of the last matches Ralph was in charge of and like most of the matches under Jones and Selles. There appears to be an inherent flaw in our players mindset that appears randomly, its as if they wake up in the morning and have forgot how to play.. Just mind-blowing.
Not gloating, but boy did I enjoy that as I was down your place for the 8 0 drubbing. PS. And one of the best own goals I have ever witnessed
We were far from our best, but you played the perfect game Well done, shame Middlesbrough are pants too eh
Yeah, I'm not in the promotion or bust school of thought, for this season at least, it will take time for players to learn and understand what is being asked of them and the play-offs would be an ok achievement for me. I want to be entertained by some good football and this is more of a priority after the last couple of seasons and every one knows the plan. We will score plenty of goals at this level but we have to get better at keeping them out and I hope that will come in time. Just a thought but it took Lawrie Mac 3 seasons to build a promotion winning team but everyone wants instant success these days.
8-0, lightweight. Your ambition for bad defeats is two, 2, TWO 9-0 s. Keep up. Mind you letting a player from the baby class score is shocking for us.
a bad day at the office - it happens. They've not had any time to train together...and the last few days were not the best preparation. We draw a line...and move on
Can't comment on the match. Didn't see it, cruising up and down the Solent with Blue Funnel Ferries, most enjoyable. Anyway, back home, seeing 26+ pages of comments led me to believe something really good or bad happened. Your comments along with a few others put a perspective on things, so thanks for that. Frankly I'm not totally surprised after the last few days especially. Let's just all take it on the chin, RM will at least give us an honest appraisal of his view and part in this. We have a break now, time to think through what must be done, changed etc. He'll have this sorted, I reckon, players with 'a problem' will be spoken to etc etc. The world will turn again tomorrow.
Well we can talk this to death but there's little point - I was a little unsettled by Martin's comments, sounds like he is not taking much of the blame for this and something about an attitude hangover from last season - which if true is really concerning - and just to add onto my comment above - yay, we have the worst defence in the league, after 5 games FFS. Nighty-night.
I've just realised how we can trump you - our superb televised 9-0 home defeat to Leicester City is the largest away win in the top flight of English football ever, taking away the previous record which is held by.....Sunderland who beat....NEWCASTLE UNITED...9-1 away in 1908. So I believe that is some sort of we're crapper than you revenge or one-upmanship, I'm not really sure. I'm definitely off here now for a while. Nighty-night.
End of the day Martin can blame whatever he likes, but we shouldn’t be losing 5-0 today. Sunderland are a good team but they have been ravaged by sales and injuries etc We made it so ****ing easy for them that it was embarrassing. They couldn’t believe their luck. We - yet again - can’t even do the basics of football like mark, track runners and stop people from running into our box. I am giving manning 10 games before judging him properly but so far I am unimpressed massively with his defending. Holgate is ****ing ****e. And we already know about Bednarek. We have the squad now to compete - we certainly have the money to be winning this league. When you compare the performances from the two teams today it’s an utter disgrace. Literally a disgrace. Our players think they are too good for hard work
My concern it downes has been brought in by his old manager to play that defensive midfielder role and Charles will always miss out as cm whilst downes is fit. He will then have to keep alcaraz , Stuart, downes and smallbone happy as playing alongside him which makes us look frail.
yes, but how many of them had no clue what their starting XI would be until yesterday because two or three players were likely to be leaving? This was always going to be a difficult week - unfortunately, Sunderland were highly motivated, and on the day deserved to win. Does anyone seriously expect us to be as bad as today the next time we play?
