Excellent performance so far, a superb goal but should be 2 - just what is wrong with Meite? 3 golden chances in past 3 games all spurned.
Crazy division after that 5-0 drubbing of Soton by Sunderland. Apart from us a goal up at clear favourites Ipswich at half time, Hull a goal up at Leicester, dreadful QPR a goal up at Middlesboro, Rotherham 2 up against Norwich, and Udders a goal up at Brom. Lets have more of the same.
Thought they might hook Tanner with his yellow. Would like to see Etete given 20 mins. He linked play well on Tuesday. Mightn't score, but could see him providing an assist. Nice to have options.
Looks like he changed shape, bringing on a 3rd CB. Why do we try and defend a lead? Wintle on for ralls, Etete on for Méïté should have been the changes to keep the same shape. Poor management decision.
I wonder how long it will take Supcom to pay a visit. Shame we let go after a really bright start. Strangely, I'm not overly despondent as although plenty of room for improvement, there's definitely progress. I did however think the decisions on subs were questionable.
You have to question those tactics and substitutions. City cannot defend yet he set us up to defend a lead. If we had the players to do so then fine but we don’t. That’s 3 points chucked away. It’s all very well bemoaning their keeper making saves or the ref being so poor or them scoring 2 scrappy goals but they should have been cut out at source. What was McGuiness doing for their first? And why didn’t Grant have the sense to stay behind the full back when he scored? Did you see how Ipswich held into their lead? They attacked. What do we do like at Leeds & Leicester? Play deep and invite pressure and make basic errors. Another frustrating away game - 1 point from 9 when it could so easily have been 9.
Overall, Meite was frustrating but Wintle on for him was a huge mistake - Etete would have made far more sense. I presume Tanner was taken off half time because he was carrying a yellow card but Colwill on for him would have been far more influential. Nothing against Ugbo (honestly) but her was he wrong choice given the circumstances. He's trier and appears to get on the end of things but doesn't influence the overall game. Bulut has my backing as a simple fan 100%, but most games are won (or at least not lost) from the touchline and we lost this one from there.
Unless he was injured Tanner should have stayed on. His last contribution was a stunning cross for a tap in header; he and Grant the other side had Ipswich on the ropes. It is a massive concern that we concede on average 2 goals a game. So ergo we need to score 3 to win. That’s not the way to progress this season.
Everyone seems on board with the real problem, our defence is leaking goals. I also agree the subs made things worse.
We lost Buluts fault end of. Tactics and subs absolutely **** the same as his post match press conference. Tanner sub was ridiculous. Ralls even more so. There were questions asked when he was put in charge as nobody had heard of him. We look unfit as well. He should get 10 games but im not convinced he should be anywhere near this level of football management.
