That Stefan Johansen we were linked to earlier in window is still a free agent

And if we are only signing French players now - so are Schneiderlin, M’Villa, Nampalys Mandy and Gbamin :D

Sorry lads I was out getting hammered last night so havent caught up on all the posts yet.

Any bed wetters apologised to KLD & Speakman yet following on from their childish actions prior to the window shutting. Wasnt too bad on here but I am deffo going to rip into a few w*nkers on some of the other SAFC sites.

If someone has said lose Gooch and Batth but keep Jacky & Paddy I’d have snapped their hands off.

That’s how I look at that.

If he’s been out injured for such a long time we’ll probably end up selling him to Southampton for about £5 million.
Watching Luton last night I liked Doughty even with his Ducks Arse haircut. Tidy player.

I did see a handy apology form doing the rounds but I think most of them are keeping quiet and hoping nobody remembers.

We should definitely be having a conversation with his agent. Not only would he give us another option but he’d be another great mentor to help bed the new lads in.

33 years old, he could easily have another couple of seasons in him.

    He must've been cringing.

It must be awful dragging his family down there so he'll be doing the right thing and putting a brave face on it.

Overall I'm very happy with the business, especially the way we weren't a pushover in letting players go.

It's fair to say that I haven't seen most of these signings play, so I can't be certain we've improved the squad, but I trust that the team have got it right long term, even if we take a backwards step over the next 6 months as everyone adapts.

The one thing we didn't get was that CDM but it's a weird position now tactically. If you look at the best/most expensive players playing that role in the Prem, I don't think they are particularly similar. They do different things. Given that the best ones go for £80-115m now, it might be in our interests to try and develop one of our existing players to specialise in that role. They're all young enough learn.

I'm laid up so checked out that rational oasis of calm and reason over the road. The comments on the Danny Batth thread were absolutely hilarious ...

... you'd think the club had bulldozed the Stokoe statue and replaced it with one of Speakman <laugh>

Pembele is realistically gonna be right back, so we can look at which of Trai & Huggins we could convert to CDM.

Trai seems most obvious, and I’ve heard a few say it. Huggins has played there earlier in career but looked lost in there on odd foray for us.

I’d 100% take Phil Jones on a free by the way, it could prove fitness.
