Hey guys. Used to be on old BBC 606 thread. New to the not606 party. Just wondering on people's views if Saturday's game is a "real" test?

Here is my unbiased, media style opinion arguing that it isn't:

Man City being top of the league means nothing...it's too premature to say they are a good team (Anyways they are not Southern, they can't be good)

Dzeko, Aguero and Balotelli are not world class strikers (Unless they win)

Tevez is still not playing for them

If there are any more great excuses I would love to know guys.

Great to be part of the group! <ok>

'Mancini isn't a great manager, they have limited funds, no squad depth.'

'Newcastle haven't played two of the three promoted teams, real test to come.'

I don't get this "test". I can guaruntee that if we win our next three people will go "OK, maybe Newcastle are a top 10 team".

No, they'll say "well playing Man City and Man Utd at home in front of their own fans will be the real test. Anyone can win at Old Trafford/Etihad" and "Stamford Bridge is the real test, it's all well and good playing at home but can they make the grade away?"

I find all of this "test" business quite derogatory, not only to Newcastle especially but to the Premier League as a whole.

We're fed this idea that the PL is the best league in the world. How can it be if most of the teams in it are **** and only a handful are actually any good? For me, every game is a test.

Newcastle deserve great credit for their start to the season. Any team who goes their first 11 games unbeaten (irrespective of the PL teams they've faced) does.

Anyway, I won't wish you guys luck for Saturday as I'm a City fan. I'll just leave by saying - it won't be an easy game for either team. Both teams (and sets of fans) have every right to feel nervous about this game (I know I do). And whoever wins will have done so by putting in one hell of a shift.

I'm sick of this we haven't been tested remarks, these are coming from the same arseholes that have said Tottenham, Stoke and Everton were.

We won't have had a real test until we get beat. Then the smiles wiil appear on the likes of Lawro's faces and they'll be able to say, " There, I told you so!"

My brother, who is foolish enough to be a Bin Dipper fan was dumb enough to give me the "you haven't been tested yet" line at the weekend.

I did a running dropkick to his head and spattered his brains all over the wall ...

... in my head anyway. Had to settle for telling him to go and have sex with himself someplace else.

Getting really tired of hearing this both from the media and fans of other teams. Of course when we are beaten (probably on saturday) we will then get the "told you you hadn't been tested yet" crap! <grr>

Next season, try this with him.

When we play Wolves, Sunderland or Villa away or Spurs, Arsenal or Everton at home say what a piece of piss the game will be and how easy they are to get a result against. Then see what he says. I would reckon he won't agree...

    Nice one! <ok>

In theory that should work. I would expect him to call me arrogant and delusional, much as I would have to have been to have suggested that those fixtures were easy this season. I'll give it a go, even he isn't biased enough not to see the logic in that. :)

i don't see how man city can be considered a 'real test'

surely we're not aiming to win the league so shouldn't measure ourselves against unrealistic standards
