Leeds Utd v Sheffield Wednesday Saturday 2nd September@15:00hrs | Elland Road Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping for a reversal in fortunes when they visit Elland Road at the weekend for a 'no holds barred Yorkshire Derby'. Xisco Muñoz's arrival at Hillsborough 58 days ago has done little to stop the rot. They have lost eight of their last nine matches, and has told his players 'they can't afford to relax for one moment' and must give '200%' if they are to get anything out of the game. Joel Piroe, Luis Sinisterra, Illan Meslier and Joe Rodon are also expected to be named in Daniel Farke's line-up after being rested midweek (Piroe was cup-tied). Djed Spence could replace Luke Ayling at right back after joining the Whites on a season long loan from Spurs. Ian Poveda has recovered from his knock, but will not be considered before the Bermondsey game. please log in to view this image We await news on the fitness of Sam Byram. The versatile defender limped off during the opening half of Leeds emphatic 4-3 victory at Portman Road. Leo Hjelde and Pascal Struijk standby. There are big question marks over the immediate futures of Jamie Shackleton, Lewis Bate, Darko Gyabi and Joe Gelhardt, though much will depend on incoming transfers. Sam Greenwood has joined Middlesbrough on a season long loan. Daniel James (groin) and Mateo Joseph (ankle ligament damage) will again miss out whilst Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo and Liam Cooper remain long term casualties. Mallik Wilks misses the trip back to his boyhood club through injury. The last time the two clubs played, was during Leeds 2019/20 Championship title winning campaign, with Bielsa's babes only winning one out of a possible six points. Throughout their history, Leeds edge victories over their South Yorkshire foes 23 wins v 22.
Going to be a cracking game this but Wednesday will be up for it so expecting a really tough encounter. 2-1 Leeds hopefully.
I know it’s not the done thing but I wish Farke would name the starting lineup for tomorrow so we know who’s staying rather than worrying about losing our best players the day before the match.
Good morning everyone it's matchday at Elland rd. We have the makings of a team who want to play for us which is better than last season. I fully expect Farke to set us up to win. I have faith in this man to bring the best out of the squad.
No left back, no cam, no Sini. Hopefully we scrape a 2-1. They will obviously score. We will have Shackleton and Struijk on the left.
We usually concede at least two so hoping for a 3-2 win. Can’t afford another day like v Salford in front of goal. Oh and it would be quite nice to score first for a change.
Meslier, Ayling, Rodon, Struijk, Shackleton, Ampadu, Gray, Summerville, Rutter, Gnoto & Piroe will be starters today I think. Bench: Darlow, Spence, Cresswell, Hjlede, Gruev, Kamara, Gyabi, Bate, Gelhardt Fairly strong bench with Anythony, Byram, Firpo, James, Poveda, Joseph & Bamford to come back from injury. Gives us a pretty good squad for the season.
I reckon Antony will do well here, assuming he’s a fairly regular starter. Disappointed that Sini has gone, but hardly surprising, and thought he would have been targeted in this league. So perhaps not the loss this season that many are suggesting. Quite pleased with the transfer window. Still would have liked a FLFLB, but otherwise done ok. Reckon 2-1, think we’ll score first, but end up having a nervy last 20 minutes. Hope I’m wrong and it’s 4 or 5-0
Anthony having his medical today, Kamara is said to be a couple of weeks behind when it comes to being match fit, I think we’ll see these after the international break
football's a funny old game and who says Sini doesn't get injured and Anthony has a full season. its all if's and but's but even though they loans and we need fee's end of the season I hope Everton and Bournemouth struggle and at least one goes down. time to talk games now and I think we will do these Wendies today comfortably. 2 or 3 nowt.
