Tbh could argue we don’t need to replace like for like. Diaz gakpo Nunez Jota is a front 4 that can all play multiple positions and just spread the goals across them with szobo and Elliott able to do a job there. Plus young Doak. much like Kane going wonder who is going for score 30 goals for them but if 3 players get 12/15 goals rather than 1 getting 30 and others getting 8-10 then still end up with similar numbers and maybe more balance / less reliant on one player. I think if we got 150m for him then majorit of that would go on strengthening the defence rather than forward line anyway
As far as I'm aware we have stated categorically that he's not for sale. Of course you can't believe anything you read in the press.
if we sold him for 200mil today or in a weeks time I'd shrug. we have 4 other forwards. the most important hing is cash is king. I would rather get the idea in these ****s heads that we are hard to deal with and a flat out NO and the player sat on his arse for 3 months might get them to take note. salah won't sit on his arse, we all know it. so unless they actually offer something lfc or I should say fsg cannot ignore then NO is fine. if fsg take a piddly fee a no 6 for cheslea would bought for then I'm not OK with fsg.
Agreed, but surely there's a price where we would sell. Whether the Saudis would meet it is a different matter.
I don't know. In my world if I say something is not for sale then that's what I mean. If I said not at that price then that would be inviting further offers. If the club has told the Saudis he's not for sale then that should be that, but like I said, you can't trust anything you read so I wouldn't be surprised whatever happens.
In general people like that don't take nos. That's why they are shown in the movie "taken" as fat slobbery rapists.
Honestly think we’d have sold for 150m a month ago. On deadline day it’s more principle now. Not being bullied into selling on the last day of our window. If they wanted him should have come in before
To be fair I think every player is for sale at the right price in world football. I don’t think there’s one player that you’d turn down 500m for for example at any club so think when a club says not for sale, it’s kind of given that’s it’s ‘at that price’ on the end
Jurgen has the same face on him that he had a couple of weeks ago over the Caicedo, in fact, he even said it again: "As far as I know". It's out of his hands, and he knows it.
Sky saying that they're coming back with a new offer (£200m?) as they're being encouraged by some within the Liverpool camp - may or may not be Salah, I wouldn't put if past FSG. Even I say don't go out with that money and panic buy another Andy Carroll. Maybe a season-long loan of somebody, but this is where a good SD would have had our options lined up, even at this stage. If we do £200m tonight - and we really have to- then have absolutely nothing lined up to fill the gap (including a defender.... well, how Liverpooly can you get in a transfer window.
I’m really torn tbh, if it’s towards £200m how can you actually say no - we’ve had his best years let’s be honest. It’s just so ****ing frustrating that it’s today. Leads me back to what some have been saying, it seems as much to do with disrupting the club more than anything else - if the club feels this too then maybe we should just make the stand and say **** off
Despite the shouts of £200m + on here, I think that we would have sold when it hit £150m had we wanted to. It still leaves me thinking that we really don't want to sell at all, rather than engaging in a bit of brinkmanship, but I'm only guessing, as is everyone else.
