I’ve pretty much pointed this out in another post (10.11am this morning), Spurf. Agreed, we’re never gonna replace Kane with a like for like player, and we’re also changing style, so the goals will need to come from multiple players. Again, I’ve highlighted what our current flaws are in the players who will be part of this new system. Ultimately we need to score more than we concede to win games, obviously. but there’s no getting away from the fact that the style will leave us open, and we’ve potentially got to score plenty of goals. Except we haven’t got Kane to help with that.
I'm with you in most of this assessment, but regardless of goals being spread around, if we are to convert good attacking football into points and on field 'success' (however you want to define that), then we will need a couple of forwards to get 15-20+ goals per season. Now if Sonny recreates his 21/22 form then that will be one of those, but we won't get 15 from Kulu and Maddison will struggle to get to double figures. But at the moment we don't have a reliable source to fill the goal gap - unless Richy suddenly becomes something he has singularly failed to achieve for the past 4 years.
What "great start" ?? We are +2 pts on the "season compass" , and the better GA is measured in the context of conceding *63* goals last season. It will be weeks before the new managers' regime/systems can even be objectively shown to be getting Spurs to where they want to be.
Probably won’t play much if/ when we sign Johnson. Only played about 3 mins in the league so far and seeing as we’re out of the league cup his chances will have further decreased.
Sorry to see you in such a negative frame of mind DH. After the last couple of seasons I am looking forward to this one.
Don’t get the sell hjolberg and replace with Gallagher who will cost more than we receive. Hjolberg is a by far superior player. Only thing I can think is we need to boost homegrown numbers but that’s not such a big deal with no Europe this year as it’s more lenient in the prem.
Out of the league cup already, won’t be replacing our star player and we’re looking at signing players we don’t need. Ange’s football has been a positive, everything else about the club stinks.
IMHO the supporters will tolerate low scoring games that result in wins, if they can see that the team is attacking and creating many good opportunities to score. They will not tolerate repeated George Graham 1-0 or Portu-ball wins.
