Thought Liam Delap may have appeared on here. He was holding his hamstring before he was subbed on Saturday and was strapped up after the match.
Ruben Vinagre, Harry Vaughan and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh all expected to be fit to travel to Ewood Park this weekend.
How are we ever going to utilise or offload this guy? The epitome of a "2 weeks away from fitness" player. Baz's latest injury update in the HDM (published today)
Hull City hope to welcome back Ruben Vinagre for Friday night's Championship meeting with Bristol City at the MKM Stadium after the Sporting Lisbon loanee missed wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers over the past two weekends. Vinagre had been expected to return at Ewood Park and then missed the open training session on Monday, but boss Liam Rosenior says the Portuguese defender will be involved against the Robins, providing he comes through training on Thursday. There was also positive news on in-form ace Ozan Tufan after he sat out Monday's session in front of 2,000 fans leading to some concern that he could be facing a spell on the sidelines. The Tigers will be without Greg Docherty and Dogukan Sinik but Allahyar Sayyadmanesh will be in the squad for City's first under-the-lights league outing of the season.
LR Injury Update: Connolly - Cannot start game as there is a fear of a muscle injury. Vinagre - Only done 2 days training following a minor thigh problem.. Lokilo - Hamstring issue that occurred in training. Back training middle of next week.
Maybe this links at least partly with the posts in the summer transfer thread about whinging Vs just being happy with having a stable club again. Meaning, the club have been & continue to sign players and have been saying al the right things (other than not needing a presence in CM) but then what's said doesn't happen in practice? Fast, entertaining football Robust signings Business done early Wingers with pace & trickery Top English talent 2 quality players for each position (but we continue with several square pegs in round holes) Etc Hopefully by the end of this week things look better. But once again we play catch up and have ongoing injury issues with signings. Frustrating.
On the face of it these are all minor issues. Connolly had no preseason and looked somewhat out of condition on arrival. His off the bench impact has been really effective though. Hopefully in a couple of weeks he'll be a starting choice. Lokilo is looking like a backup player anyway. No point risking a dodgy hamstring which could put him out for months. Let it heal properly. Vinagre is the one here that's worrying. History of injury and flakiness and starts off with us in the same vein. Not quite in the Sinik league but is pushing him for the position of Club Invisible Man.
Connolly's not actually injured, Rosie's just said he doesn't want to risk an injury by starting him, so he's being limited to appearances from the bench for now (which is proving fairly effective). Vinagre's back already and Lokilo's injury is only minor.
Hull City expect to have both Lewie Coyle and Jason Lokilo fit to travel to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon despite both suffering from injury niggles. Lokilo missed Friday night's 1-1 draw with Bristol City after reporting a hamstring issue in the build-up to the game, while skipper Coyle had to be replaced by Cyrus Christie in the closing stages after taking a kick to the ankle. The Tigers are currently only nursing injuries to Greg Docherty and Dogukan Sinik, so will hope the issues with Lokilo and Coyle are nothing more sinister before that trip to the King Power Stadium, with Liam Rosenior admitting having the extra day of preparation is helpful. Rosenior was able to recall Ruben Vinagre and Allahyar Sayydmanesh back into his squad after the pair recovered from their respective injuries, and his squad will almost certainly be boosted by new arrivals ahead of Friday's transfer window closing.
Rosenior also provided an update on the progress of Doğukan Sinik. “Dodo’s training,” said Rosenior. “We played a practice match on Tuesday, and he came through that really well. It’s been his first week back training fully and he looks really good. The rehabilitation team have done a really good job in getting him to a level where he can sustain the intensity we work at. “It’s taken this long to get him there, but he’s worked really hard in the gym and he’s back training fully with the group which is great.”
