Why don't the so called Celtic fans who don't want to donate to the Legal fund , just do that, don't donate.
Better than making idiots of themselves arguing their h.ns friends argument.
Many Celtic fans would be happy enough to see the lad arrested.
However for him to be remanded for over a month with the prosecution demanding no bail is just too much for any right thinking person.

Remember last season when a group of "school children" were apprehended breaking into Lennoxtown with crude weapons.
These Children were the same age as the Celtic youngster who was remanded in custody for singing.
Yet the armed children got off , must have been different school

As already stated you can get legal aid, I've had to do it and I'm sure 75%+ of monday morning court cases get it as well so wise up.

At the end of the day hes a stupid wee boy who was either convinced to do it or done it out of stupidity the only reason he was locked up was due to his own idiocy.

    Oh Tina !!
    I am disappointed in you.
I hope you have not put thoughts into anyone's mind.
There are bears out there and Celtic fans who love bears and they would just like a comfortable forum with no
truths about Rangers and their evil ways published. Thank God for Harry Espania Celt and ever Stereo an odd time.

You are not too bad yourself Tina.

Because this thread was posted (i'm guessing in some misguided to attempt to generate sympathy for some wee bam) and this is a forum for opinions, I and others are giving our "opinions" and our reasons for not being interested in donating one brass halfpenny to the "defend ****wits with cloth ears" fund.

This fund isn't for one wee bam

It's for all wee bams who are arrested for singing republican songs and who are being harshly treated

Celtic fan groups want to sing republican songs

Surely they can pay for their members who are victimized for doing so

A month in jail for singing "up the ra"

    Read it again

Now remember you're in a democratic country that is NOT at war with Ireland

What about those not in these "uber" fan groups... who don't want to and don't want to hear tham at a football match. Are they do be ignored ?

If you end up in court, for any offence, you appoint your own lawyer or get Legal Aid...deal with it, especially those who "sling a deafy" to public opinion, police and footballing govering body warnings are continue to be "wee bams".

I bet he doesn't have the first real clue about Irish politics or republicanism.

I have consistently said that the purpose of singing them is to promote the education about Republicans and Republicanism. every journey starts with a single step.

I have also said that this is where I do feel a degree of discomfort.

I don't believe it's about education/promotion of Republicans and Republicanism (for the many). I doubt many have 1) lived with it 2) been affected by it. I also belive many probably don't know that much about it/have the correct facts. And again, I believe many are born and bred Scotsman - with no real connection other than supporting Celtic.

To me, many are ill informed and not worthy to educate the rest of us. Me, I'd take an education from someone like yerself in discussion on the subject - sharing POV/ideas/opinions - but certainly not from a 17 year old chanting "up the ra".

    Your second point <ok>

Even if that is so the ****ing idiot didn't have a solicitor on his behalf to think "Hey bail might be an option no?" no instead he goes unopposed against the prosecutor in allowing his remand its his own ****ing fault he was remanded no one elses - as for the money thats a load of bollocks we get legal aid here as stated a million times before.

The wee dick is more guilty of being a fud than anything.

MTS i think you should evaluate your position because its baseless.

I don't necessarily think you have to have lived through something to feel empathy or sympathy to the situation. Pressure was brought to bear on the South African apartheid regime from other countries that didn't experience it.

I accept that a number of these kids may only have a small part of the story, but it has to be a start. I recently discussed this very same thing with a Republican ballad singer who sang songs in bars around Glasgow. He was genuinely pissed off that a lot of the kids only wanted the rabble rousing tunes. He questioned what the point in it was if his sincere expressions didn't get met with sincere ears. His conclusion was that people would take from it what they wanted and hopefully some would hear the message he tried to convey and he'd just keep on keepin' on till they did.
