I went travelling this year and the one thing that united all the people I met, no matter the nationality, was a distrust of French cliquey behaviour. One German guy said everybody in Europe can speak English, and whenever there is somebody not from your country you speak English. But the French will only speak French. Not because they can’t but because they are rude. I thought the English would be the hated ones so it was a surprise.
