Obviously the powers-that-be have realised we've sussed that they always rig the draw against us and have rigged it so we get a slightly easier one to put us off the scent.
We'll have to moan more often...

This ignores what FFP burden that had from before 2022 (there should be some)

600mil was spent in 2022 windows. this was applied over 8 years. (and yes some was not over 8 years but **** sake keep it simple)
400mil has been spend (so far) in 2023 and move are over 8 years

So then you see the blue line which is assuming they keep right on spending 400mil over 8 years every year (the prem currently allows it)

The RED line is where UEFA have already Constrained this to 5 years. If chelsea continue spending 400mil per year over the next 2 years

the orange line is if chelsea now start to constrain themselves to 100 million spend for a couple of years.

Bascially the long and short of this is Chelsea must not lose 105mil over 3 years. they must also ensure future wages and purchases being 705 of revenue.

If you simply draw a line form 2024 up to the red line this tells me they need to sell over 200mil of players to have a hope of meeting ffp in uefa.

If they simply constrain themselves they will still have to sell players every single season and have a positive net spend to just make ffp work.

IMO if FFP means anything at all it is now just about impossible for Chelsea to meet the burden they have given themselves already and yet they are buying another barely ever played kid form city for nearly 50million... over 8 years.

There's simply not enough other clubs to come in and pay 60 odd mils of cast offs like havertz and mount every year. Chelsea need to sell 4 of them next year to make this "work"

I'm no accountant and frankly the financial side of the game leaves me cold, but I'm assuming that they must have some sort of plan that someone has advised them is workable.

    that's the question isn't it?

how much of a budget did they put in for transfers on day 1 (its more than 1 billion by the look of it)

how much can they absorb due to the rule changes their actions have led to? 8 v 5 years amortisation etc?

do they feel they will have to just pay a piddling fine?

    only time will tell here.

the chart merely shows that if they keep spending 400mil the rules state they will need to be selling 200mil worth or more just to "break even" in amortisation

Well I suppose only time will tell if Boehly is a genius or a complete spanner. Or whether or not the people advising him are letting him down.
It's a fascinating experiment, tbh, unorthodox to say the least. Will he get the club back to the top, or bugger it completely.

    well thats it isn't it?

either they sail to the top of the pile or end up like leeds did.

there doesn't seem to be a very big middle ground here.

    he's their no 6 innit.

no longer a full back despite the fact englands are geriatric or crocked.

you'd wonder at southgate sometimes that he couldn't at least pick some new RB if he's up to these antics.

Lots of controversy but to be fair to Southgate (and don’t often say that) only 3 games into the season so not sure you can pick players like sterling JWP because they’ve had a couple good games. Keep playing well and yea have a case next time.

Saying that, people like maguire Phillips haven’t played or played well in so long that amazing keep being selected. Maguire is very lucky that we don’t have any other decent CB’s around atm but what Phillips brings I’ve no idea

Goalkeepers: Sam Johnstone (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal) - UTTERLY ASTOUNDING. Pope again missed out.

Defenders: Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United), Kyle Walker (Manchester City) - DEAR OH DEAR.

Midfielders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Al-Ettifaq), Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City), Declan Rice (Arsenal) - EMPOVERISED.

Forwards: Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), James Maddison (Tottenham), Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Callum Wilson (Newcastle United) LOL. wilson, nketiah. lol.

the point of best return out of england potential has IMO passed. Theres an awful lot of very very average players in that squad.

Yesterday, I heard someone (a pundit but can't remember who) claiming England have the best attacking players in international football <laugh>

    That seems....... rather patriotic?

    ok but attacking wise

    Bellingham from midfield
    the drunk flopper at LW
the lederhosen clad dribber at no 9
The actually highly rated saka at RW

Thats not actually bad when they can have foden and rashford and sterling as back up.

the only issue is grand statements usually get found out. usually when someone just reads down the french team squad list.

in fiarness to england when you read the state of brazilian football with richarilson, jesus, martinelli and anthony you do have to wonder. Vinictus jnr really stands out when you put richarilson in beside him.

To be fair a team of the following could be quite tasty

    Rice
    Trent Bellingham
    Saka Kane Rashford

Its just the defence, keeper and boring manager that lets it down.
