They'll be playing a weaker side I think. I'd start with the kids and then bring on the better players if needed.

I don't mind starting a few of our bigger players like Wilson and Barnes, but I wanna see Miley, Anderson, Targett, Lascelles, Burn, Karius etc get some time.

That would be throwing the game, even Man City's second team would slaughter that lot.

Yeah but I don't want to risk our full strength side in a cup game. Imagine if someone gets injured in that game and we get knocked out anyway. ****s sake.

It's high risk low reward, especially when we have CL concerns.

    We have other priorities.

    I'd say play -

    Barnes------------Wilson-------------Murphy
    ------Anderson--Longstaff--Joelinton
    Targett-------Burn------Lascelles----Livramento
    --------------------Dubravka-----------------------

We run the risk of people getting injured in every game.

Midfield is way too lightweight in that team, City would bash right through it. Bruno, Willock, Botman and Pope need to be in there and Laecelles, Anderson, Longstaff and Dubravka out.

    Forgot about Willock.

And yeah we do run the risk, but it's risk vs reward, and the cups should not be our priority.

Why? They're our best chance of winning something, and we got closer last season than we have in 25 years, and now have a better squad than then.

Last season, when we had one relatively key injury it all went a bit tits up. Bruno around Xmas, Longstaff towards March, etc. Squad is still way too thin. Chuck in the towel here and ask if we can forego the FA cup as well, until we find the money every other club seems to find and buy decent players.

Still mystified why Aston Villa have been able to make us look like amateurs in the Summer window.

    https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/date-set-for-magpies-carabao-cup-clash-with-manchester-city/

A date has been set for Newcastle United's Carabao Cup third round clash with Manchester City - and the tie will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

United will welcome Pep Guardiola's men to
St. James' Park on Wednesday, 27th September, with kick-off set for 8pm BST.

And the contest, which pits last season's Carabao Cup finalists against the current Premier League champions, is one of that week's third round games to have been selected for live coverage by Sky Sports.
