I aint got no beef with them, but that's probably because I have no dealing with them these days - I'd rather them there than not. I agree Met Police are a problem, but I'd just break that up into smaller units somehow, don't know how mind. Policing problems are mainly caused by the government, inadequate funding, too much reliant on cctv, pretend coppers and the litter gestapo.

 

Oh and that Newcastle fight, too much of sticking the sly boot in, another cowardly act.

 

Anyone booting someone in the head should be done with attempted murder, ****ing cowards, its usually the ones that stand in the background then run in with the boot when someone's on the floor, too much of it, a few high profile 10 yr sentences may slow it down

 

Bystanders chucking a boot in and anyone using a knife is a pure coward.

That's a poor statement for the MET to put imo.

Not condoning the violence and coppers shouldn't have to deal with that ****, but for the large majority of people attending Carnival it's a brilliant event. And for the large part, public, police and organisers do a good job working with each other to make it a success.

There are plenty of events where there is crowd disorder, but the way the MET have singled Carnival out in this instance does nothing to foster relations with the communities they are supposed to represent.

 

75 police officers assaulted. 6 bitten. 1 sexually assaulted.

You think the MET should stay silent and say nothing when their officers are being attacked like that?

 

They sexually assault enough people to more than get their own back so it’s all good.

 

Okay so just focus on one of the 75. You’re good at that.

If the MET want to highlight abuse against their officers, then they should put it into wider context about disorder and criminality across all strata where it happens.

Not single out an event and use language like 'dread to police this event'

As is highlighted in that thread:

'There are about 29500 assaults on police officers without injury reported each year, this equates to 567 per weekend. Why do these Notting Hill assaults particularly alarm you given the overall number of assaults?'

As I mentioned, singling out Notting Hill, with it's largely ethnic demographic, and being a sensitive issue for policing (let's not forget the MET have been found to be institutionally racist) and it becomes a poor statement to put out that does nothing to foster the very community links that the Police rely on to do their jobs effectively.
