Tbh unless we have a certainty on selling him we should just get Dier out on loan for the final year. The only other options are that he stays with us, without a squad number and picks up a full year's salary for doing nothing or we pay him off. At least loaning him out saves us some money.
Agreed. Also he is one of our higher-end earners so it helps to get that off the wage bill. Of course, this wouldn't have happened if we'd just sold him to United for £50m five years ago as I and very few others wanted. But then again, I did predict that Sanchez would be 'the next Ledley King', so I'm probably the broken clock in this analogy.
