If you are referring to Gooch it probably was because that’s where he lives !

Yeah that’s what I mean, was wondering if he will be announced tomorrow, ideally that would be the case before what will be chaos on Friday

That seems to be the progressive side of the model people who want to slate the club don't get. Yes at the minute we appear (fees usually undisclosed so we dont really know) to be paying a few hundred thousand/couple of million for players who we think will progress here and be worth 10, 15, 20 million in the future.

Paying 25 million for a player in the future will look cheap if they're worth 100m 2 years later but I think that will come when we're in the Premier league again.

It's all about value for money now and not having our pants pulled down like we have done in the past.

It will be like Simms. Few up front with add ons.

We have remained interested in Cannon all summer.

Not sure we would go that high compared to other teams
    Hahahaha. Apologies

I just think if Gooch goes they will pick up a specialist right back. Huggins maybe better in midfield. Hume is great, but I would like someone to push him in that spot.

The club have been ripped off by various players/agents/clubs for years ...

... even by some of our own managers like Moyes.

We almost went out of business.

We ended up being left in the hands of lunatics.

But I'm sure some people would happily throw away all the progress for the buzz of bringing in a handful of 'names' that have to be bribed to come to Sunderland.

    It's absolutely crazy imo.

Just a thought - Ross Stewart 7million ? Would look a pittance if he fired us to the promised land of the Premier League -Worth a gamble ? I would say so , if in January it looks unlikely we would probably still be able to command the same fee from the front runners trying to ENSURE their promotion .

Ross Stewart £6.5m + 1.5m proven goal scorer v Tom Cannon £7m not a proven goal scorer with 20 games under his belt????? Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Let me play devil's advocate mate. IF is an ambiguous word. Yes Stewart could come back no different than before his injuries but he could also be a totally different player - no pressing, no anticipating. No one really knows until he actually plays a handful of first team games. One thing we do know is that the contract was offered and it wasn't signed before he got injured.

The flip could also happen, we turn down a 7 million pound bid, he comes back is poor due to his bad injuries - or gets injured again - and we lose him for nothing. Instead of having the money where we could potentially sign a couple of quality players that could improve us

Always a tough decision when it comes to your better players

Another thing we know is that some people would be screaming 'crock' if Sunderland were intending to spend millions on a player with his injury record.
