I was thinking after our 0-3 home defeat to Colchester yesterday, how did MadDog do at this stage when we won the league in 2012/13. Back then we had also dropped points by this stage, when the fourth game in (yesterday was fifth) we drew at home to Chesterfield. By the fifth game we had 13 points against our current total of 12. What is remarkable now to back then is our inability this season to score - it should be noted when we went into our sixth game at home against Bristol Rovers back then is we won 4-0 our total accrued goals this season!.. One thing to note though @brb we didn't achieve our first clean sheet until 9 games into the season (in all competitions) whereas we've had 4 clean sheets out of our first six in all comps. It is peculiar however that the only team we've managed to put more than one goal passed was Southampton who were recently relegated from the PL. Perhaps our players should be playing at a higher level than they are currently?
The Southampton score did cross my mind when doing this thread, didn't we change the team for that game, maybe the Saints game is telling us what team Neil needs to be playing for scoring goals...I've not checked btw although got my curiosity now.
Yes a number of changes were made for the Southampton game, as again was made last night for the Luton one. Jayden Clarke certainly appears to be the positive spark we need and allows for play to be stretched further. Hopefully Harris takes note of him scoring last night and starts him saturday.
Yeah I've put him down as a goal scorer for Saturday, so I hope Jayden starts, has certainly earned the right and as you certainly adds that spark.
