    ... and related injuries.

Sunderland have a long and proud tradition of sending players to play for their countries and returning in bandages, it's like a pastiche of WW1 at times.

Most recently it was Triantis, Ballard and Bennette but it goes back to Kenwyne Jones and beyond. I remember tuning in to watch Gyan score then forced off before half time. Its was so bad, at that time it was reported 'As for the game, Sess didn't get injured, which is a plus.'

I used to look forward to seeing us represented on the International stage ...

... now my heart sinks when I see them boarding the planes.

To be honest International games leave me feeling cold.
Like you it's just another game to risk our lads getting injured and we've had plenty of those.
I know players aim for that recognition at national level and fair enough, I suppose I was lucky to see the 66 triumph but what since, that's a poor return since, bit like the lads to be fair:angry:
I just think these breaks in the season are a pain in the arse, but this one might benefit us IF those picked come back injury free. We'll have to wait and see.

I seem to remember Fletcher getting an injury playing for Scotland as well.

    Yes he did, quite right.

"Dan Ballard and Trai Hume have been called-up to Northern Ireland’s squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Michael O’Neill’s side travel to Slovenia on Thursday 7th September (KO 7.45pm) before heading to Kazakhstan on Sunday 10th September (KO 2pm).

Well deserved and best of luck Lads."
