Levy also structures bonuses and heavily incentivises CL qualification, there will likely be 7 figure bonuses for the manager should he finish in the CL places, so there is no wonder the cups are essentially sacked off by playing the reserves.
Think the next 3 days will be pivotal... if we do not get rid of one of Hoejberg/ Skipp; one of Sanchez/Tanganga AND Dier; Lo Celso; Lloris; Spence we will have no space for new players. We definitely need a new striker, another full back (at least one) and another creative midfielder. I suspect we will have a lot of ups and downs this season and it is important that we keep things in perspective re the team and manager. However, if levy has finished buying I suspect things will be very heated at home games towards him and the board
yup and that is how Levy ‘selects’ the team, for those amongst us who always wonder why some turn on him when we crash out of cup comps like tonight.
The issue is we can't make games fast if we have Hojbjerg and Skipp in the middle, as both tend to be more conservative with how they pass and move the ball - which goes against what the tactical plan is If the starting lineup had Sarr in the Bissouma role and one of Hojbjerg/Skipp in the Sarr role, there would have likely been much better momentum in starting moves because the transition from defence through midfield would have been positive, and that positivity would also effectively push Hojbjerg/Skipp into higher positions on the pitch to be more effective there, or in Skipp's case he could just as easily drop into the space Sarr left open so he could potentially ping a 30+ yard ball over the top if needs be But starting Skipp & Hojbjerg? The difference in speed in how we transition from defence through midfield is noticeably slower
On a regular basis they couldn't, on a few one-offs I don't see why not, especially if managed well in-game with subs. Could've made 3 changes to the XI today, used 5 subs during the game, that's potentially 8 first XI players getting some sort of a rest.
He's sitting on £100m+ after letting our best player go, if he's done with spending then he'll be better off not attending Spurs games.
Yup coz he doesn’t want to feel the wrath of @PowerSpurs who will be joining the Levy out camp by Friday ooooft
I agree...going into the rest of the season without a striker coming in will be the final straw for many who still support Levy. The first dip in form and the crowd will turn on him and the board. They had a taste of it with the Nuno farce and again last season. But this will be the tipping point for many.
Skipp and Hojbjerg were desperately poor. The latter needs to leave asap, I haven't much rated him since day 1. The former is on borrowed time at the moment. Having burst onto the scene with such promise, his development has stalled - badly. He seems to be confused as to which role he is meant to play. Someone earlier compared him to Winks (might have been you), and while I think that's a tad harsh, there is some truth to it in that Skipp is also a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. But even this problem would have been avoided had we not compounded it by rotating the FBs as well. Udogie and Porro, with their pace and ability on the ball, at least provide us with more options in the final third. Davies has always been better at the defensive side of things and while Royal gets up the flank pretty rapidly, his contribution is minimal - usually nothing more than a 5 yard pass to Kulu and even that is a struggle for him. Ange was well within his rights to make changes but tonight very much resembled a latter-day Conte team simply because the vast majority of players out there were being asked to perform roles they aren't suited to. Either change the midfield or the FBs. Don't change both or you lose the entire system.
Unfortunately, PS didn't specify which window he wanted that money spent in. You see where I'm going with this. Welch incoming.
I actually think many have already tipped to be honest, I'm more or less done with him now and I'd previously been a fairly staunch pro-defender of him for many years. I just think he's out of his depth in the current climate and market, his business style no longer works and we get Levy'd more than we do the Levy'ing nowadays because of it. Even if he hadn't been making so many mistakes over the last 4-5 years, 22 years of the same stewardship is very long, a fresh change would just be nice in general.
I know there are still a few on here but they are firmly in the minority these days, the most recent polls have around 85% of Spurs fans as wanting Levy & ENIC replaced.
Think it was me that compared skipp to winks. Was hugely disappointed in him and Hoejberg tonight...they were second best to the Fulham midfield at everything they did. Royal is a very limited player but Sanchez is genuinely awful. He misplaces the simplest of passes, gets caught out of position, mistimed jumps and hesitates all the time.
But why? he built you a ground with a nice NFL pitch that slides under a stand when not in use and nearly gave you a cheese room. How many times has that expensive hide away pitch been used since your new ground opened, we don't get information on things like that ooop North.
