Bristol City provide the next opponent in the Carabao Cup following the 1-0 win over QPR last time out. The Robins (aka The Cider Army) are currently 14th in the league table with 5 points from their first 4 games.

David Wagner's side travel to Ashton Gate on Tuesday, August 29, for a 7.45pm kick-off.

Can't see anything but a comfortable win here.

Bristol City fielded basically a first choice XI in the first round, whilst the expectation is we'll rotate heavily, so I don't think I'm feeling as confident as you!

Speaking of rotation, lineup predictions? Seems clear Warner and Fisher will be involved, something like:

    Long
    Fisher Warner Omobamidele McCallum
    Fassnacht Gibbs McLean Placheta
    Nunez
    Idah

I'd presume Idah, McLean, Fassnacht will come off around 60 for Barnes, Forshaw, Rowe.

But our 2nd 11 are better than their 1st 11.
    No problem

    Team News for Bristol City:

"We will assess the group, then we will make a decision [on who plays] on Tuesday morning. But as we've seen, there are a lot of players pushing for the starting spot. We will see who will start and who will come on. Kellen Fisher and Jaden Warner, both of whom had been involved in the first-team matchday squads of late, were given minutes with the Under-21s on Friday night as they beat Chelsea 3-2 at Carrow Road. That pair, along with the substitutes that Wagner says made an impact against Huddersfield, will all be in contention for a starting spot on Tuesday night. We made the decision that Kellen and Jaden would not be involved in the matchday squad (Huddersfield) to give them gametime. They will be involved on Tuesday for sure but I wanted to give them the chance to play against Chelsea - a great result for our Academy and a very good performance which was important."

Bristol City One to Watch: Jason Knight

Republic of Ireland international Jason Knight joined Bristol City from Derby County during the summer (£2.3m) and has hit the ground running. He scored his first two goals for the club in the Carabao Cup first round while he was named player of the match in their 1-1 draw with Hull last time out.

    The Manager: Nigel Pearson

Bristol City appointed Nigel Pearson in February 2021 having previously spending a shortlived tenure at Watford. His managerial CV includes two titles, the 2008/09 League One and 2013/14 Championship, both with Leicester City.

    Last Time Out

The most recent fixture between the two sides was a 1-0 win for the hosts at Ashton Gate in February of this year. Mark Sykes' first-half goal was all that stood between the teams.

Morning guys we have had a very indifferent start to the season taking 4 points from 6 away -however our home form has been poor.1 point from 6 and of course beating oxford in the first round.

We played really well at Hull Saturday and at Millwall however the homes games against Preston and Birmingham were poor.

Unless we start producing our away form at home i only see a win for you guys.

We have a number of new signings that are still gelling however I am going for a 1-2 win for you guys.

I think we need to have a look at TDP tonight and see what he can offer up front. Would be nice to bring Lima/Clarke/Riley in as a midfield option.
I’m not bothered about this cup at all

    My guess:

    Long
    Fisher Omobamidele Warner McCallum
    Núñez Forshaw
    Springett Dickson-Peters Placheta
    Idah

Subs: Reye, Stacey, Duffy, Rowe, Fassnacht, Manning, Barnes

Mildly disappointed we haven’t got Dickson-Peters on the bench, but interesting to see Welch and Warner, who I don’t know anything about

Otherwise, I like that we are giving a lot of players a run out. Is it wise to start Sara though?!

Saw Welch play against Mulbarton in a friendly. He was absolutely class. I did ask how close he was to the first team and the coach said "Who? The Norwich Messi?" and laughed. Obviously highly thought of!
