Udogie just jarred his knee and should be available. Calvin Bassey is suspended for Fulham, as is manager Marco Silva, due to getting 3 yellow cards. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son. Subs: Forster, Emerson, Sanchez, Davies, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Perisic, Lo Celso, Soloman. Fulham: Leno; Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Palhinha, Pereira; Wilson, Jimenez, De Cordova-Reid. Subs: Rodak, Mbabu, Adarabaioyo, Cairney, Reed, Harris, Traore, Vinicius, Muniz. Ref: Josh Smith. A young ref who has never taken charge of a top-flight match. No VAR. TV: Not televised in the UK. How would you like to line up for this one and how do you think we actually will line up?
We should play a very strong side - Can see Emerson and Davies playing at FB and possibly Lo Celso for Maddison the other 8 should start, hope to see Scarlett on the bench and he should get some game time too.
Am going ... but in the away end...I'll be easy to spot...I will be the miserable mofo not cheering when they score the winner
There is potentially one extra League cup tie per month for the next 3 months. So not much available game time to seriously rotate the starting XIs. Given this + Fulham are PL + the rattling they gave them lot, I suspect the manger will go with a very strong starting XI (and copious offerings to the god of injury plagues) .
Big Ange will definitely want to win this and will pick a team to attempt this. No need to worry about rotation at this stage but maybe rest a few from the weekend especially those with niggles etc. RCL - Even being with the home fans, it will be a great experience being at Fulham. Have fun!
At this stage of the season I think the most important consideration is for the players to continue familiarising themselves with Ange's system, especially those he considers automatic starters or those close to that status. Absolutely no point starting any player we're actively looking to sell, not just because there is always a risk of injury but also because there just isn't any benefit if the player isn't in his long term plans. I'd make only a couple of changes: Vicario Royal Romero VDV Udogie Skipp Bissouma Maddison Kulu Richarlison Son
Only changes I'd make would be Perisic and Solomon coming in for Richarlison and Kulu, with Sonny moving to CF. Though I feel like Ange is going to make more than that, with Emerson, Davies, Hojbjerg and one of Skipp or Lo Celso also getting a start.
We should be playing a strong team we are only 3 games in and no Europe…the odd occasion we have more than one game per week should not be an issue. I don’t recall the last time someone had such a blinder that they became a first team fixture anyway due to their cup game performance. id rest: Maddison for Lo Celso Bissouma for Hojberg maybe Romero for Sanchez but probably not Edit: definitely not We will find out what Ange thinks of these cup competitions tonight
Hopefully it’s a pretty strong lineup with some rotation. I’d like to see Solomon given a start though, and wouldn’t be against rotating the FBs and a few others. It’ll be good to get a sense of what the likes of Davies, GLC and PEH can do from the start of a game. Vic Emerson Romero VdV Davies Sarr Hojbjerg Lo Celso Solomon Richy Son Biss, Destiny, Kulu, Madders on the bench and all ready to come on if it’s going tits up at half time. Would be nice to see Scarlett and maybe Dorrington and/or Phillips on the bench too for a run out if it’s going well. The above is a strong lineup with plenty of players who have good impressions in pre-season and will have a point to prove having dropped out of the starting XI in the early run of games.
With 5 subs allowed it is for managers to use this facility to ease the physical burden on players. Can't imagine Conte using it but Ange who appears far more flexible and frankly possessing more common sense will probably do so.
A cup tie in a competition we would want to win, against another PL team. No travel required... Unless there are injury concerns, I would stick with the 'first' 11. (Including Richy) Only 3 games in to the season, a new coach and several new players trying to gel as a unit. The first few games have gone better than we could have expected, but it's still early days. If we get through this one and draw a lower division opponent in the next round then that Wil be the time to start giving others starting places and more game time.
Another interesting team sheet incoming. This time more for who is absent and not on the injury list (season game 4 and the transfer window soon to close) ...
Very. Richarlison will be the focal point of service in attack (so both delivery to him and his conversation rate are really on trial tonight) .
