I don't know what to make of all of this Rubiales stuff. It was inappropriate, and if he lost his job over it then fair enough - but I'm hearing it called "sexual assault" and that just seems OTT to me. Something which could have been resolved with a censure and a statement saying it won't be tolerated seems to have blown up to major proportions, and taken a bit of a bizarre turn with the news of the hunger-strike.. I'm not a woman and I've never felt threatened like this so I don't know if I'm wrong or right, but I am a bit bemused. Incidentally, a (grown-up) daughter of a friend of mine kisses all friends on the lips as a farewell. When she did it to me it felt a bit odd, because it's rare, though obviously not threatening to me. There was nothing sexual in it, but it's still unexpected. Anyway, Hermoso is Spanish for "beautiful", so maybe he just couldn't resist. (That's a joke btw).
It's over the top imo, it was just in the heat of the moment. Maybe he should have missed all of them to show there was no "targeting". Should have just gotten him to publicly condemn his actions and apologise, then just move on (assuming he was willing). From what I've heard, the female that was kissed wasn't that bothered.
Hard to judge as a man. Always have to take it that can’t really speak from a woman’s perspective. It does seem the sexual assault angle is a bit over the top. He was wrong. He was an absolute idiot doing it. Was it caught up in the moment? Does he have past history of this thing? Is he a bit creepy? Does feel like he could have come out afterwards and said I’m massively sorry and embarrassed by this. I got caught up in the moment and offer sincere apology to the player and the rest of the team plus anyone else that I offended. Need to better myself and will be ensuring I educate myself etc. Instead he double downed on doing nothing wrong and just made this 100 times worse.
I think the Spanish "Machismo" is coming into play here. He should have apologised, but then he allegedly also made an obscene gesture behind the back of the 15 year old daughter of the Spanish Queen! grabbed his crotch it seems. Basically he seems to be a male chauvinist prick with a view that women are there to serve men.
it's cup draw week. First we get the league Cup 3rd round draw, probably a prem club away. then Friday the europa league draw will be on. should be fun
14 years ago I went to Milan for a week’s holiday. Whilst I was the there I asked the hotel concierge if there was any football matches going on. To my surprise he came back and said AC Milan were playing Inter Milan at the San Siro So I asked could any chance of a ticket and a couple of hours later I had one. Went to the match and Inter won 4-0. All I would say is the way the ultra Inter fans chanted was the most unnerving thing I’ve ever encountered in a sports stadium. Can’t believe it was 14 years ago today.
