He was imo, he's a talented boy and absolutely deserved his chance, but I doubt he'd be held in such high regards if he wasn't a Hull lad. He's stalled somewhat since his move, a loan to kick start things for him would probably be the best bet for him. Getting 10/15mins as he has so far this season, isn't going to help him.
KLP was never ready for that move, maybe financially. Agents might have a lot to do with this, he will be set up for life, but in the terms of football he’s stagnated massively. I can’t believe he isn’t demanded a loan away. Bowen was the model he should have been following, he got stronger physically and mentally every year and made himself to an excellent Premier League footballer. I think KLP maybe believed his own hype a little too much. There’s obviously still time, but he is going to have to take a step down to reignite his career.
Still think theirs Prem interest in Davis. If he goes their good riddance as he will be a glorified bench warmer.
bang on, JB20 will always have our respect because he treat us with respect and then got his big move when his stock was red hot, KLP always seemed to have a slight chip on his shoulder. Quality player though would have him back in a heart beat.
I mean the contract fiasco in League 1 was a criminal carry on for a lad who’d started so well for us. He’d never have left if we tied him down properly like we should’ve back then
We signed him a year longer than he/his agent wanted. The dispute was to do with us insisting on the extra year, not the other way around. How could we 'tie someone down properly' who was reluctant to sign a 2+1 let alone anything longer?
It was badly handled, but the premise that the club is to blame for him not signing a longer contract is a false one.
Definitely wasn’t, like HT said he wanted to move on to the premier league. Pretty sure Acun offered him close if not the same as what he’s on at Brentford, but when Shota is the coach vs Thomas Frank it’s a pretty easy choice on the footballing side.
Seems to have always been the intention though. I think most would look at it now and think he'd have been better off playing another year here from a developmental perspective
Definitely in hindsight, just a shame Acun’s first managerial appointment panned out/was planned the way it was.
On a footballing basis alone, moving to Brentford has been a very poor choice. I’m sure he has been well paid. But he’s in footballing wilderness. He’ll end up back in the Championship before long I’d expect.
Whether Shota or Mcann I don't think it would have made much difference. Rosenior maybe, but again I doubt it.
If Brentford wanted to develop him, they should have signed him & loaned him back, but as was said, Shota was manager, but they could easily have loaned him somewhere else. They must like him though, because he’s on their bench regularly, played 29 minutes in their last 2 games, so he’s probably more in their plans to play, than loan out.
