Well tbf, I was adamant at the time he wouldn't be part of the tino deal as a makeweight.. which was correct. Unfortunately qe sold Tino, But it's good to see how things panned out in the end.
I’d wonder if Sulemana is the exception really. Unless he has won’t play in the championship But other than that I would expect any departures to be loans and for some to be ones where we will be paying some of the wages. Hopefully these two have been agreed because all or most have been paid by the loaning club
Wasn’t including Sulemana in the players that we want to shift! Think we could potentially still sell Tall Paul off that list, but loan still seems more likely. We could still see sales for players we’d rather keep, ABK, KWP, Che, Sulemana. 4 days to go! And still feels like a lot could happen with outs and ins!
So what are thoughts on numbers in and out from now until the window closes. I am going for 3 out and 2 in,......
7/8 out - Adams, KWP, Sulemana, Onuachu, Aribo, ABK, McCarthy. Then possibly Alcaraz 5/6 in - RB/LB, striker x 2, winger and Centre back. New AM if Alcaraz leaves. If I had to guess based on rumours it will be Stewart, Paintsil and Wood in permanently + a couple of loans
I’d be pleased and surprised if we signed two strikers if Adams leaves - or one if he stays. Because the latter scenario suggests that were this the plan is would have already happened. Unless it is Onuachu that is blocking that squad spot and wage? Which I guess it might be However your guesses on actual names mentions the permanent signings of only one striker - implying a loan for another. And I don’t think many strikers worth pursuing are an available for loan. I pitched this question the other day and the only suggestion was McBurnie. Which i doubt Have there been any rumours at all regarding Alcaraz? Or is that guess based purely on the most pessimistic possible outcome. Looking at your list containing the departure of all of our best players I guess it must be the latter
They have three central strikers in the mould of Adams. Not sure if any have been linked with moves away
There were links earlier in the summer but nothing recently. Now we are entering the last few days of the window it’s make or break time for clubs so can see movement happening. And yes of course it’s for our better players, as I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that all of them won’t want to play in the Championship if it can be avoided and other teams will probably be interested.
With 4 days left, that would be a player coming in or leaving every 8ish hours until the window ends. And that’s under the unrealistic assumption of 24hr working days. If anything close to that happens it would be full chaos mode.
Who was Alcaraz linked to? Napoli is one I was aware of. They have signed a central midfielder and a “second striker”. Implying no obvious spot. And they probably need to sell Alcaraz would be another one who I expect we will only sell
Benfica as well I believe. He is the least likely to go based on rumours floating around atm, but as we’ve seen before a lot can happen in a short space of time at the end of a transfer window. It doesn’t appear we are saying stuff like “it’s too late, soz you missed your chance” with players leaving based on Martins interviews so if teams pay a suitable fee then anyone is up for grabs.
Last year we signed 4 first team squad players and moved on 4 first team squad players on deadline day alone
But it won’t be over, as people will start moaning we shouldn’t have sold x, should’ve brought y etc Then we won’t be long til we do it all again in Jan. Bet it all kicks off after we lose to Sunderland.
