Anyway, now the dust has settled and I've had time to come down from the post match euphoria... ...I'm still piggin' chuffed.
Thought we were hanging for dear life as halftime approached. But in the second half there was only really the shot from Gordon, that one that hit the post from Almiron, and when Barnes went through and only had to sidefoot it across to Wison - and ****ed up. Not that much of a show against ten men. There was another Almiron miss in there too, but 70-odd minutes against 10 men - in all honesty, who looked the most shagged in the last 10 minutes? All that said, it could have been three or four with Ali - the guy is nearly as much a legend as Clemence in my book.
You will have watched them more than me. I'm going on what I saw yesterday, at home, big game, they offered very little. There wasn't a single one of their players that impressed me.
I dunno. They're not in City's class - but who is? Arsenal look good again, but not brilliant, and of all the rest - including us - I think they'll be okay. As has been said, they may struggle with CL football as well, but I think they'll do as well as United, Spurs, Brighton and probably us if we don't get another CB and midfielder before the deadline. And if we're losing Mo in January, which wouldn't surprise me at all.
I've said this since we started this malarkey last season. It coincided with an improvement in our results which seemed to lead people to believe it was the cause, but I've never been convinced. The whole balance of the team is skewed and we lose the attacking width on both flanks. When he does go out wide, things immediately start to happen again - it's still where he does his best work by far, imo.
Only going what I saw yesterday too mate, I don't usually watch anything but Liverpool games nowadays. I thought Tonali looked excellent and Joelinton helped him bid the midfield. No one else did it to me. Expected more from Bruno and Isak tbh
Missed the game cos i was at Carnival all day. Thoughts Eddie howe and his assistant are embarrassing ****ers. Happy for Darwin, hopefully this is the start of him really flourishing here.
Probably not, but only because City are so far ahead. I'd still be optimistic about being higher than everyone else.
Just enjoying some fishing on the toon board. No bites yet, all too deleicate at the moment i reckon. Fukin pussies
Joelinton pissed me off because of all the fouls he got away with. I agree with everything else - I thought Guimaraes was meant to be special, and Isak's only achievement was to get Virgil sent off. I thought Almiron and Botman did ok.
I remember saying that our results improved with the new tactics but I didn't ever say or believe it was as a direct result of the change. It certainly doesn't look right and it's exposing Trent left, right and centre, literally. You can't argue that the results haven't improved though. Correlation or coincidence
My daughter watched the whole game on her phone whilst walking down from Mount Snowdon. You're just not dedicated enough, Sucky.
Foullinton. I lost count of his fouls when it got into treble figures - and that was just before halftime.
Doesn't help that I watch with the sound on mute so not hearing the names, I didn't even notice Tonali playing. I could say - oh he was the player that did this or that - but I can't remember seeing him other than one close up when I thought - so that's what he looks like.
I've nothing against Newcastle as a club (apart from their owners - they could burn in Hell if such a thing existed) - I'd shake the players' hands and say hard luck. Except for Joelinton, I'm so happy the dirty bastard lost. Oh, and Gordon, of course.
Tonali looks a great signing albeit on the basis of 3 games Bruno has been ****e for at least half a season in fact that was probably one of his better performances according to the Toon fans. Isak seems to be even brilliant or anonymous with nothing in between.
I'd have loved us to go for Tonali but never mentioned him because I thought he'd be extremely expensive
Hmmm, that's like saying it's not a robber's fault if the plod don't catch him. They weren't just little professional fouls, sneaky shirt-pulls and such - he was hurting people.
