I rate him , though I think this season is one too many .

I know most of his success has come as a result of driving for Mercedes, but he can be bloody quick ..

I do wish him and his ex wife had never split up .

Well done to Josh Kerr, and Indeed all the runners for providing a quality race and fast times, the first four sub 3.30, the first 10, sub 3.32. I think it is safe to Say the standard of 1500m.running has never been higher.

At last Jamaica are beginning their surge up the medals table with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Men's Long Jump and a gold in the men's 400m final with Antonio Watson securing gold. In that event, Hudson-Smith produced the run of his life in securing silver.

Noah still looking good for the gold in the 200m but the competition will be fierce with GB's Zharnel Hughes in with a chance. Someone will run a PB in that event and will be nowhere near the podium such is the quality of the finalists.

South Africa have tonight sent out an ominous warning to anyone intending to topple them after demolishing a very poor All Blacks 35- 7. They will have to be very, very good. If it is possible, a France v South Africa or Ireland v South Africa final would be quite appealing.

Rugby World Cup warm-up LIVE: England v Fiji - score and text commentary - Live - BBC Sport

This is pure comedy. Losing to the likes of France and Ireland is one thing, but to be beaten by Fiji is something else. Well done Fiji but looking at this, England are fortunate to be in a relatively weak group compared to Scotland. and Ireland at the World Cup1!

I suppose the bottom line is, better to lose to Fiji that to Argentina when the tournament proper starts. And given the way the groups and QFs have been drawn, England could well get to the semis before lining up against someone like SA or France.

While Team GB has done quite well on the track, we are nowhere to be seen in the field events. I have often heard Steve Cram lamenting this state of affairs. Just maybe a truculent youth could be taken out of a police station and taken to an athletics track and taught how to hurl a discus, leap over a bar, take a run and jump ..

I guess the danger of teaching them how to pole vault is it makes it easier for them to escape the perimeter fence

The idea is to divert their minds. When I wrote the original message, I recall the story of Muhammad Ali who turned up.angry at the police station after having his bicycle stolen. The officer in charge took him under his wing by suggesting he take his anger out in the boxing ring.

Why aren’t they showing the WR/CR times when the athletes approach the line? Deeply irritating

Thanks to all the athletes who participated in Budapest. You are a great example in meeting ghe challenges and difficulties when things are not quite going you way. Give me this sport over football any day, which to my mind is a vastly over-rated commodity.

It is people running in a straight line, around bends, jumping over things, and chucking stuff. Basically a bunch of footballers who can’t kick a ball.
