Stats are factual, but you have to get the measurements and parameters right in the first place for the factual stats to be of any use at all.
I get the impression that the Cardiff fans won't rue his departure. They seem to be a bit scathing of his shot stopping ability -citing that he was beaten at his near post far too often, but he does have good skills with his feet though and can do the odd Cruyff turn. Sounds likes the man Rosey wants.
No it doesn't work both ways, unless the opposition are swapping out a GK that is good at shot stopping for a GK that is good with feet but not so good at shot stopping. Even that's a stretch.
Eh? Thought you were on about stopping shots not playing out? There a tendency on here to focus on our own perceived deficiencies on this board. Just pointing out that the oppo keeper has been the busier in the last 3 games. So not all doom and gloom.
Bristol City and Norwich had way more chances than us in the respective games. We have also as a team had the most shots against us in the league which is a huge concern please log in to view this image
Not on target they didn't. Against Bristol we had 9 that required saving to their 6. Also Bburn keeper kept them in it until they scored.
Fair point. Still highly concerning we are giving up this many shots. I know Norwich was **** show and the Bristol game was back and forth but I'm hoping we can get some of the defensive solidity we had last year
Just because their players didn’t hit the target doesn’t mean we aren’t conceding a high quality chance though
I know a lot dont like this stat but this is proved by the xG charts. We've conceded the most. Only thing helping us is that we are attacking much more and creating. I saw a table that had us about 14th on expected points please log in to view this image
Only game the big stats haven't been in our favour is Norwich, but to be fair to them they're scoring for fun so far this year, unexpectedly. I replied about shot stopping. But in all those games we created as many high quality chances if not more - were just focusing more on the ones were conceding on this board. Yes id like to see us a little more secure on the counter this season as that's were we're conceding the most chances, but I also think it's a trade off for us taking more risks and creating more compared to last season.
Bristol City had far more xG than us. Its clear the identity of this team at the moment is one that can attack but can't transition back to defence just yet.
xG depends on the methodology employed by that particular company and different organisations xG figures vary pretty wildly. Bottom line is that we forced more saves than we've been forced into in 3 of the 4 games we've played.
